More than 50 analysts at US Central Command have recently said that claims of the so-called Islamic State's weakness have been greatly exaggerated. If analysts' allegations are correct, maybe it's time to start asking the question everyone seems intent on avoiding: What happens if IS can't be defeated? Do we then have to acknowledge the possibility of an IS victory?
We're not talking about a global "convert or die" type of victory that would see the world consumed by the apocalyptic ambitions of IS's megalomaniacal leadership. Instead, what would a more plausible kind of "agree to disagree" or at least "agree to be mortal enemies" victory look like for IS? Perhaps something much more pragmatic, like being able to effectively govern the territories they already control and successfully protect the borders of their so-called caliphate.

These are words of surrender. These people do not understand that ISIS must conquer or disintegrate. Amazing.
ISIS can be beaten, but only when our leadership, allows the Bomber Harris's, the Montgomery's, the Patton's, the Sherman's, the Wingates and Stillwells which exist with in our senior officer staff and allow them to fight the way it takes to defeat ISIS. The political leadership don't make good Generals they need to hand this war over to the pro's and let them do what has to be done. They also have to stop listening to the Think Tanks.
S'what I've been saying for a while - the Western elites are hoping to keep Islamic State in check long enough for the IS to adopt the trappings of a State. Then the Western diplomats figure they hobble them with treaties and trade agreements.

I think you are right, but the dips and powers that be misunderstand these people on a very fundamental basis.
