Donald Trump Questions George Bush's Pre (And Post) 9/11 Response

Politico: Trump-Bush feud fires up over 9/11

The feud between Donald Trump and Jeb Bush over the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks escalated on Sunday as Trump argued his hardline stance on immigration would have prevented the attacks while Bush defended his brother's handling of the attacks.

In an interview on "Fox News Sunday," Trump was asked by host Chris Wallace what he would have done differently in response to an earlier suggestion that then-President George W. Bush was partially at fault for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. And Trump insisted he was not blaming the former president for the attacks.

"Jeb [Bush] said 'We were safe with my brother. We were safe.' Well, the World Trade Center just went down. Now, am I trying to blame him? I'm not blaming anybody, but the World Trade Center came down so when he said we were safe, we were not safe. We lost 3,000 people. It was one of the greatest — probably the greatest catastrophe ever in this country," the Republican presidential hopeful said.

If he were president, Trump said, it would have been different.

WNU Editor: Donald Trump certainly knows how to stir-up a storm ... but with Jeb Bush at around 6% to 8% in the polls .... Donald Trump is probably giving attention to Jeb Bush at a time when no one else is paying attention to him. But the Republicans do need a debate on their post-9/11 response .... specifically on why they pursued a nation building policy in Afghanistan after the defeat of the Taliban, and more specifically their push to go to war in Iraq. This controversy over what could/should have been done to prevent 9/11, and what was done immediately after .... this is not going to sway a voter one way or another.
