FOX News: EXCLUSIVE: U.S. officials conclude Iran deal violates federal law
Some senior U.S. officials involved in the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal have privately concluded that a key sanctions relief provision – a concession to Iran that will open the doors to tens of billions of dollars in U.S.-backed commerce with the Islamic regime – conflicts with existing federal statutes and cannot be implemented without violating those laws, Fox News has learned.
At issue is a passage tucked away in ancillary paperwork attached to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, as the Iran nuclear deal is formally known. Specifically, Section 5.1.2 of Annex II provides that in exchange for Iranian compliance with the terms of the deal, the U.S. “shall…license non-U.S. entities that are owned or controlled by a U.S. person to engage in activities with Iran that are consistent with this JCPOA.”
Update: Report: U.S. Officials Admit Nuclear Deal With Iran Violates Federal Law -- The Tower
WNU Editor: A friend of mine who is an international lawyer working with Canadian mining firms pointed this story to me this evening. He knows his stuff, and according to him .... it has been known for the past few weeks (within legal circles) that this violates U.S. law .... but no one has raised any concerns because everyone has been hoping that the U.S. Congress and the White House will do something to amend the law. Now I am not a lawyer, but I do understand politics. The idea that the U.S. Congress will now go out and amend this law to accommodate President Obama .... now that is something that I have to see.

WNU Editor,
U.S. Presidents have long been above the law
Iran-Contra?
I know that the list is long Jay :)
But lawyers have to tell their clients the truth .... and to point out the risks. Is Iran worth the risk .... I am glad that I am not in a position to make a judgement on that.
WNU Editor,
The Symington Amendment, (1976) bars U.S. economic, and military assistance, and export credits to countries that deliver or receive, acquire or transfer nuclear enrichmnet technology, outside of the IAEA.
So in the case of Israel, both parties and all Presidents just pretend that Israel doesn't have nukes, since Nixon.
WNU,
This was leaked to put pressure on somebody, the President on Congress or the Congress on the President? Considering the House Speaker-ship dust up I lean to the President pushing on Congress.
"Iran Contra"? How droll. Try the Louisiana Purchase, if one wishes to go historical.
Judging by the "Administration officials" mentioned in the story - on a Friday, no less - it would appear to be an Administration leak.
