Sam Gerrans, RT: 'America is a bomb waiting to explode'
The United States is in decline. While not all major shocks to the system will be devastating, when the right one comes along, the outcome may be dramatic.
Not all explosives are the same. We all know you have to be careful with dynamite. Best to handle it gently and not smoke while you’re around it.
Semtex is different. You can drop it. You can throw it. You can put it in the fire. Nothing will happen. Nothing until you put the right detonator in it, that is.
To me, the US – and most of the supposedly free West – increasingly looks like a truck being systematically filled with Semtex.
WNU Editor: I do not hold this pessimistic outlook. The U.S. has suffered far more severe setbacks and catastrophes in the past .... and I have confidence that it will also survive the hard times that are probably just around the corner.

WNU Editor,
All it takes is the right mix and timing of "pushes".
Many of the modern Civil Wars were given significant "pushes" by outside interests.
Nobody has tried that yet with the US, utlilizing internal divisions to weaken the U.S. From the inside, and the U.S. has a lot u resolvable internal divisions that have simmered off and on, some as far back as the Civil War.
Jay is right, recent Scotus decisions, political infighting, an ever increasing sense of widespread corruption is making ever more people feel excluded from political decisions. If the Republicans had a spine, or another political entity that had tough platform existed this country would probably be in a civil war already. Much less active interference from a foreign power.
