Daily Mail: Russia plans to escalate missions in Syria to '300-a-day' as troops backed by Moscow's jets advance on rebel groups in Aleppo
* Syrian ground forces are moving in on Aleppo as Russian jets give support
* Warplanes flattened houses in a strategically important village near Aleppo
* Russia's jets carry out dozens of missions a day but wants to up this to 300
* Country has been condemned for attacking Western-backed rebel factions
Russia plans to carry out up to 300 aerial missions over Syria every day and intends to build a new runway to accommodate its warplane, it has been claimed.
This shocking escalation comes as Syrian troops advance on rebel areas in the province of Aleppo, backed up by Russian jets that have been bombing Syria for more than two weeks.
Images taken only today show the destruction caused by Russia's planes in the strategically important village of Al-Hader, just south of Aleppo city, which activists claim is the next target in Syria's ground offensive.
Update #1: Russia plans 300 Syrian sorties a day -- The Australian/The Times
Update #2: Here is an analysis on the the Russian air campaign .... Russia Is Still Limited In What It Can Achieve In Syria (OilPrice, Jamestown Foundation).
WNU Editor: If Russia wants to have 300 missions a day over Syria .... we are talking about a massive deployment of men and resources far beyond what Russia now has in Syria. To have an idea on how big such a deployment will be, since the start of the campaign on September 30, after two weeks of air-strikes Russia is claiming 380 targets have been hit out of 600 sorties .... Russia claims 380 ‘ISIS targets’ in Syria since start of bombing (Al Arabiya/AFP). There is no mention of helicopter operations .... I can only presume that this is separate from what the bombers are doing.

How many sorties do Coalition planes fly?
How many do they fly per day**
The Russians are flying about 20 - 30 per day. Coalition a bit more, but it has gone done of late.
