Andres Oppenheimer, Miami Herald: The fall of Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela
The Trans-Pacific trade agreement signed last week between the United States and 11 other Pacific Rim countries will be another nail in the coffin of the populist governments of Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and other countries that will be left even more isolated from the global economy — and poorer — than before.
Once ratified by the countries that signed it, the agreement — officially known as Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and heralded as the biggest trade deal in history — is expected to cover 40 percent of the world economy. It’s likely to be a major boost to trade and investments among the United States, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Chile and the remaining Pacific Basin signatory countries.
WNU Editor: The lack of trade agreements is not the reason why the economies of Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela are in dire straits .... it is more because of their own internal policies and decisions that have impacted their economies.

The tpp is an unclear trede agreement that has not been released as a whole. Can't help to think that is a form of sovereignty grabbed. For the nation's that are part of it.. Time will tell me if is correct
All of these neoliberal agreements are a lot less about trade and a lot more about grabbing sovereignty.
Regardless, it is difficult to see how not belonging to a trade rubric that excludes China but includes QE addicted, flat broke debtors with stagnant or contracting economies looking for someone else to prey upon is a bad thing.
I'm with the Editor on this one. The situation in Brazil, Venezuela etc. has more to do with internal issues than non membership in the borrow forever but pay never club.
NOT that they haven't done a ton of borrowing themselves.
I suspect with the TPP we should see an out flow of jobs just like NAFTA. Glad I'm old I'll be dead before to long.
I am with the editor on this one too .(wnu) is some sort of mastermind it he ever deside to run for president of the united States ,already have my vote :-)
TWN,
Please take no offence.
The sentiment you expressed is one I hear constantly in the US and Canada. It is one the reasons why I am sceptical about our chances of taking on today's challenges. So many people are fatalistic and resigned to things just getting worse.
And for good reason.

It's rather nice that the TPP enshrines and provides legal protection for slavery.
