"The detonation of an improvised nuclear device would produce intense heat, resulting in many patients with severe burns," says a September 30 news release from the Department of Health and Human Services.
The announcement says HHS has contracted for the development of "four novel products to treat severe thermal burns."
The products will boost the number of treatment options in case of disaster, and they'll also be used in "routine" burn care situations.
The four treatments -- one commercially available right now and three in development -- "will be added to the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) or managed by vendors to help protect people from burn injuries resulting from radiological and nuclear threats," HHS said.

My Wife and son asked me what it means if Russia and the US start fighting. I told them that this movie provides a decent instruction on the possible outcome.
My Wife thinks we should spend more time in the basement.
I think everybody will do some significant pushing around first. Sanctions leading to blockades, attacks on major infrastructure including cyber, etc... When Windows start shattering from the sonic booms of fighter jets, cruise missiles start taking out refineries and dams and such, then you'll know it's time to hit the basement but as long as we still have trade agreements with these other nations I'm not going to lose any sleep over a surprise nuclear attack. If I wake up and the West has been embargoed by the East and we get cut off of all international trade at the expense of sunken inbound freighters, then I'll start loosing sleep.

Funny. I was just reading about Perimeter and all the speculation about whether it is on all the time or just activated when things get bad.
I have a strong feeling we will know exactly when that 22 hour timer starts to tick down.
I agree on the cyber attacks etc. In my opinion, all they'd have to do is hit the LPTS of the hydro grid, sit back and watch the show. A couple of weeks (at most) without power would be enough to see things fall to pieces. It's getting bad enough as it is.

I keep thinking that the whole world being involved in the Middle East is the beginning of WW3, but then I just figure it's business as usual. It's like a hippie asking if the acid has kicked in yet, we'll know when we are truly at the doorstep, it will be quite obvious.
