I am going to be lonely on this one. But after looking at all of the stated reasons for Russia's entry and all of the reactions to it, I think something is not as it seems. Russia is doing quite an elaborate fan dance and things just don't add up.

James, you're not alone, though me may differ on the goals. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of something, much, much larger. I also do not believe Russia is all by herself on this, Iran notwithstanding.

Si-vis-pasen,
I'm really not that sure, and I'm not sure I should have said anything. All I can say now is from my experience things just don't ring true to me. I am having a very hard time believing any (skepticism is my second nature) of what anyone is saying.
RRH, thank you. " I have a feeling this is just the beginning of something, much, much larger" Maybe so, but as for what it could be, I'm in the dark and in all my years that's unusual (though my ex-wife would disagree). Things I see and hear happening on the ground don't match anything being said, what should be the self evident #1 danger is being ignored. Those who should be allies aren't acting like it. All I can say is that when on the surface all seems incoherent it usually means something in the background is playing the real tune. I said at the very beginning I was at a loss why Putin is doing this, then I thought I knew, but not anymore.

RRH,
We differ on much more than goals, but we do share one very important thing, skepticism. I will say this to you, one the most important things I have learned is to be skeptical of myself the most. Skeptical of what I think I see, how my beliefs color what I see and how I judge people, things, and events.

Thanks for the reply.

I concur James. Scepticism is a necessary requirement in today's world. And you are even more right when you say how beliefs color what we see and how we judge people, things, and events.
