America's New $13 Billion Warship
Business Insider: This is America's new $13 billion warship
The US Navy is just months away from adding the most expensive warship in history to its fleet, the $13 billion USS Gerald Ford.
The USS Ford, the lead ship of the new Ford-class aircraft-carrier series, is expected to join the US Navy in early 2016, according to CNN. Once deployed, the ship will be among the largest carriers ever to ply the seas and will feature a number of changes and advancements over the US' current Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.
Here's a look at this multibillion-dollar beast:
WNU Editor: I am having trouble digesting the cost .... $13 billion (and counting).

A whole lot of eggs in one basket. The chickens have been very busy.
For that price you could buy 17 Wasp class assault ship/helicopter carriers.
Wasp is only 10 meters shorter than the French nuclear powered Charles De Gaulle carrier.
Why doesn't the US build somethin closer to the size and cost of a Wasp class ship? Nuclear powered or not.
The question is: will it be another "F-35"?
The challenges for the future aircraft carriers will be to develop ( Radar systems) that can be use in real time in assistance
To kinetic energy gun's /laser's been to destroy incoming hypersonic missiles . Carrier killer missiles have no being tested in real combat yet .
Potentially can be a devastating .
I personally think that this weapons systems are being develop to counter S.U. carriers, and yes this $13 billion dollars aircraft carrier will no do any good if it can be put out of the fight with a single missile for the costs of a sport car .
Maybe the U.S. navy already have this capabilities and I just don't know more than likely but I don't see a way that an object moving at such speed can be shoot down like the Chinese missile.
