Report: Russia Involved In Massive Doping Conspiracy Involving Its Athletes

Daily Mail: 'Drug cheat' Russians sabotaged 2012 London Olympics and should be thrown out of athletics, say world doping chiefs in bombshell report

* Report says athletes competed in 2012 when they should've been banned
* It suggests Russia was running a 'state-supported' doping programme
* Lifetime bans now recommended for five Russian middle-distance runners
* World athletics president, Briton Lord Coe, said findings were 'alarming'
* Russia said report was 'political' on day Putin chose to stress commitment to sport

Russia's doped athletes 'sabotaged' the 2012 Olympics and should be banned from future competitions until the country cleans up its act, a bombshell report has said.

A landmark investigation published this afternoon claims Russian athletes competed in the London games despite the country running a 'state-supported' doping programme.

Amid a string of explosive allegations, the 323-page report recommends Russia - which is due to host the World Cup in 2018 - is declared 'non-compliant' with anti-doping rules, meaning it will be unable to compete in the next Olympic games unless there are significant changes.

WNU Editor: Sports is popular throughout the world ... it is what makes us human. In Russia .... I cannot describe how passionate Russians become when it involves sports. I will never forget the time when I was in university in Moscow and the Russian national team was playing Canada in Canada. I only heard about this later, but my father and my brother got into a fight over that game (my brother was cheering the Canadians just to irk my dad), where tempers got so bad that my brother then vowed that he would dance on my father's grave. He was kicked out of the house .... and .... well you get the picture. Sighhh .... I am one of those rare Russians who has a ho-hum approach to sports .... do not get me wrong, I love to play sports .... but watch it .... not so much. As for these doping allegations ....  where they are even claiming that the FSB was involved ..... I am not surprised.

WNU Editor,

Tip for you;

"They became so close that when Fleming went on extended patrols and Kazikhani wasn’t with him, the interpreter would call Aaron’s wife Marion with updates on his safety. “He just really gave a shit,” Aaron said of his friend.

Fleming has since left the Corps and now lives in Missouri with his family — safe from bombs and bullets. But for Sami, life has been very different. The Taliban marked him and his fiancĂ© for death.

Now Sami, his wife Yasmin and their infant daughter Roxanne are in bureaucratic limbo after a dangerous voyage across the Mediterranean and a long walk across southeastern Europe.

“He was so good to our family,” Marion said. “It just feels so wrong sitting here while he and his family live like that."

Yes Jay, this is a really, really bad scene. This hit me personally. I had an interpreter/apprentice over there. They got him in the fall of 08 before he could get to Canada. He told me about threats to LEEs from "the Taliban" all the time.
