Russia And France Continue Bombing Raids On The Islamic State Stronghold Of Raqqa

The Independent: France air strikes in Syria: '33 Isis militants killed' in Raqqa in three days as Russia adds to onslaught

Russia has also unleashed cruise missiles on the de-facto Isis capital in retribution for last month’s downing of a civilian airliner

Thirty three Isis militants have been killed in northern Syria by air strikes carried out by France and Russia in the past three days, it has been reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) monitoring group said the deaths were the result of the bombing campaign carried out on Raqqa – the de-facto Isis capital – since Sunday night.

French President Hollande has called for strengthened international co-ordination against Isis following the brutal attacks on Paris that killed 129 people last week, and the country’s military has carried out three “massive” air strikes on Raqqa in the past three days.

These figures of 33 etc are ridiculous as they come from a group based in london.
Fact is no one knows and when that type of ordnance explodes people just cease to exist.
Common sense dictates a body count in the hundreds.

If the Russians are using there strategic bombers the number would be higher.

They are using Strategic Bombers to launch precision cruise missiles.

KH-55's , AGM-88's, AGM-129's, similar to the Tomahawks.

They are not overflying and saturation bombing with iron bombs.

Only videos can prove your claims.

Sorry if I seem a little offensive, but my quota for "stupid" was long since filled up today, ( not by you) and I'm running way short of tolerance.

LOL. Jay .... you should at look at my quota of stupid. I am limited by time each day, so I can only post 20% of what I want to post. But man .... even .... who has been doing this blog for years (70,000 posts and counting) I am astounded by what I am seeing now.

So the Russians deploy strategic bombers to fire cruise missiles instead of bunker busters.....that doesn't add up.

phill,

The Russians have a different doctrine.

Their Strategic Bombers are optimized to carry cruise missiles to striking range of US Carrier Groups and Land Based Targets.

The U.S., Has 784 bases outside of the U.S., so there is no need to carry cruise missiles long distances, before launching them, as other than inside China and Russia, there's a U.S. Base pretty much next door to anywhere.

Jay

What does that have to do with bombing ground targets?

The Tu-160s and the others are capable of dropping free-fall bombs.... including bunker busters.

We both know the jehadis are in tunnels hiding like rats.

Militarily that doesn't make sense.
