Washington Post: Russia plays down idea of coalition with West to strike ISIS in Syria

MOSCOW — The Kremlin on Friday played down the possibility of a grand coalition with the West to strike the Islamic State in Syria, despite personal visits by French President François Hollande to both Washington and Moscow following a spate of horrific terrorist attacks tied to the terrorist group.

“At the moment, unfortunately, our partners are not ready to work as one coalition,” Dmitry Peskov, President Vladimir Putin’s personal spokesman, told reporters during a conference call on Friday.

Peskov’s comments came less than 24 hours after Putin himself sounded hopeful notes at a meeting with Hollande in the Kremlin, where he said Russia “was ready to cooperate with the coalition which is led by the United States.”

WNU Editor: The Russian government's remarks on joining a coalition against the Islamic State have been confusing. On the one hand Russian President Putin is saying that they will continue to work with the U.S. led coalition .... Putin says to keep cooperating with U.S.-led coalition over Syria (Reuters), but a day later the Kremlin's spokesman says something else .... Russia's Partners Unprepared to Work in United Coalition Format - Kremlin (Sputnik). What's my take .... there are too many differences between both sides on what to do in Syria. Couple this with Tuesday's shooting down of a Russian military jet .... there is now no longer any trust. And while I am sure that all powers do want to work together against a common foe (i.e. the Islamic State) .... I predict that the focus will shift in which each country will just pursue its own agenda and goals.

If Putin joins the coalition and the coalition wins, Obama looks good and takes or tries to take the majority of the credit.

It seems that Russia is doing the heavy lifting. The American soldiers are competent, but their CINC are not letting them be effective.

To wit not hitting ISIS oil facilities because Obozo and company are more afraid of Gaia than ISIS.

Obummmer also gave the oil tankers 45 minutes warning. Granted some of those men might be forced labor. But how much more risk can a CINC put soldiers than normal combat. Especially a CINC who has never been at risk or been in so much as a fist fight for all we know.

Is a soldier going to do while delivering a hashtag?

Correction

"die not "do"

Would Star Wars be any good if Porkins died while delivering a hashtag instead attacking the Death Star's reactor chamber?

Would you walk out from such a movie in disgust?

Is it that much worse when it is real life?
