The need for the top # lists has reached a new low with this article. Business Insider uses young people with little journalistic chops to digest and churn out articles the subject of which they have little understanding. For example, the lead author:

Any person trained in primary production journalism and history would immediately understand that the authors are using inappropriate metrics, metrics that the reader can neither access or evaluate.
In terms of impact, I would refer the readers to ground zero. That is any country and its leader that possesses nuclear weapons has the potential to impact the world permanently, unlike the oligarchs who control the financial resources. One can recover from a recession, not a nuclear strike.
Mr. Obama is a lightweight president who has poorly served this country. However, he has the codes and that makes him one of the most powerful people in the world. Any list that compares the power of Mr. Obama against a financial oligarch for permanence of their potential impact on the world is absurd.
BI needs to start hiring adults to do real analysis, not pablum production.
