Reuters: Exclusive: U.S. has urged legal reforms abroad to block Islamic State recruits
The U.S. Justice Department has provided specific suggestions to governments in Europe and elsewhere on how to strengthen counterterrorism laws in order to arrest would-be foreign fighters before they join groups like Islamic State, according to a policy paper reviewed by Reuters.
U.S. government officials distributed the paper to overseas government agencies earlier this year as part of a push by the Obama administration to track and stem the flow of homegrown foreign fighters from Europe bound for Syria and Iraq, a person with knowledge of the matter said.
Following the Paris attacks earlier this month and this week's security crackdown in Belgium, European law enforcement and intelligence agencies are under pressure to disrupt the replenishment of Islamic State’s forces and prevent battle-hardened militants from returning home to carry out attacks.
WNU Editor: Passing a law (or laws) is not going end the war against the Islamic State. The flow of recruits will continue because the West is reluctant to combat the ideology that drives many of these Islamic radicals to join ISIS .... case in point .... Clueless Hillary: 'Muslims Have Nothing Whatsoever To Do With Terrorism' (Investor.com). I should also add that many Republicans are guilty of doing exactly the same thing.

I wonder how the law will apply to these mercenaries?

IF you have a hammer everything looks like a nail they say.
The beltway is filled with lawyers and it freaking shows!
This is why Trump has a shot at the Whitehouse. That and immigration.
WNU,
The link about the Republicans does not work.
Archives.gov is down for maintenance, busy or they changed their filing schema
Honestly, you keep beating the "West refuses to acknowledge the problem" drum, but I am not sure if it is really justified.
Western politicians cannot acknowledge the problem IN PUBLIC because of the public culture of political correctness. That is of course a bad thing, but hardly their fault. Few people are willing to shoot themselves in the foot for the sake of being honest and transparent.
But behind closed doors, I really doubt they don't understand the problem. I think they all understand it perfectly well because it is impossible not to; at least, the part about radical Islam being the specific ideology behind the terrorist attacks. And since most important decisions are made behind closed doors first, I wouldn't consider the debilities of their public speaking, shameful though they are, as particularly indicative of their actual thinking. Their actual strategy makes it pretty clear that they don't think the enemies are generic extremists or religious extremists; they are, after all, going after Muslims in Muslim countries specifically. The flaws in how they go about it are considerable, but they have nothing to do with their public "shyness".
Daniel and Anon. I am just posting what these people themselves are saying in public and how it conflicts with what I am reporting on the ground. Do not shoot the messenger.
ANON. I have posted more than once in this blog that the people who really hate the Islamic State and radical Islamists are other Muslims.

Unfortunately .... the war that is occurring among many of the Muslim faith is now trying its best to drag the rest of the world into their conflict.
WNU,
You're like the messenger who brought news to Cleo that Antony had married another, something along the line of Madam I bring the news, I did not make the match. Messenger's heads are always loosely attached.
James. You would get a kick out of what I get in my email at times. A lot of people do not like it when I point out what leaders say .... and what they actually do. But in my experience with this blog, President Obama's supporters have been the worst .... they like to believe he means this or that (not what he actually says or what he actually does). For a politician .... this is the best position to be in. To be someone who observes and posts on it .... the worst.
WNU,
There is only one safe route for you, dressing and pie!
I genuinely appreciate your post about how Muslims hate isis and other similar groups. It gives me hope for humanity and truth.
My apologies for my initial (and rather rude) comment before. Have a good day.
George Bush did call Islam a religion of peace.
At the time that might not have been a bad thing to do.
But I see no reason to persist, when it has produced no results. You can only turn the other cheek so long. Besides I have heard an alternate explanation of turning the other cheek. It means the opposite of what detractors of Christianity says it means.
Book 'em, Danno.
ofs,
When I was in Germany many years ago Hawaii 50 was either the #1 or 2 rated show on german TV, the other Gunsmoke. Both were dubbed in german and I still laugh when I hear Book'em Danno or Festus talking in German.
"Book'em Danno". Checked up on it, and now I understand what it means.
I hated Hawaii 50 when I was a kid,
but bought the first two seasons
on dvd. My kids and I loved the
bad acting, cheesy plots, and
sound effects (no car pulls up to
or away from the curb without
squealing its tires). And where
are bad guys like the original
Wo Fat on TV these days?

ofs
ofs,
Holy Cow, I haven't thought about Wo Fat in a long long time. Yeah I love the car stuff, like the old Lincoln Continental full of bad guys going around corners like a F1 and having the sounds of a manual transmission, keeping up with a mustang or camaro!
