Is There A Split Between Pentagon Officers And Regular Soldiers When It Comes To Donald Trump?
Nancy A. Youssef, Daily Beast: Pentagon Officers: We Quit if Trump Wins
The plans of the next president are personal to the officers of the Pentagon, who are threatening to quit if The Donald becomes commander-in-chief.
Republican presidential candidate and business mogul Donald Trump has repeatedly vowed to build up the U.S. military if elected president.
But it is not clear he will have the experienced commanders within the ranks to do it.
In the halls of the Pentagon, there is a different plan afoot for the Trump presidency. Here, officers are privately contemplating what they would do should Trump become their commander-in-chief. And more often than not, they proclaim they will leave.
WNU Editor: Nancy A. Youssef focuses on who may be the next President and Pentagon opinions .... but whoever is selected will probably do far better than the current President whose popularity among the many who now serve in the U.S. arm forces has been in the mid-teens for the past year.

Threatening to leave before you are asked to leave, heh, heh, heh. The perfumed princes are worried.
I'm a veteran and am shocked at how, based on Facebook posts, the vast majority of people I served with (enlisted) are all out Trump supporters. There are a few of us who support other candidates, but wow, after what he said about John McCain? What kind of vet, or more specifically combat vet(s), could stomach this asshole/lunatic. He doesn't even know what the nuclear triad is; but then again, most bullet catching grunts don't either.
I am sure the community organizer in Mom Jean's didnt (still doesnt) either!!
Alex,
I am also a veteran and what Trump said about McCain is inexcusable. Whether he becomes president or not is for the people to decide in which I have a small voice. My comment was directed though at the upper echelons in the military who sold themselves to pc-ism for advancement. This is not a new phenomenon, but I've never seen it this bad. They are nervous and rightfully so.
James
You nailed it.
We'll see how much Putin "respects" his talented billionaire when he has to deal with his God complex on a regular basis.
Please.....they are thinking of leaving and do what???? Obama has fired more top brass and what remains are a lot of sycophants. Maybe they should go and new leaders will quickly take their spots and hopefully guide America back to her greatness. You can't go much lower than the mid-teens as well.
"Please.....they are thinking of leaving and do what???? "
What they ususally do when they leave the Pentagon, high paying "jobs" in the MIC, consultancies at the Ususal Suspects Think Tanks, military talking heads positions in the MSM, Corporate Lobbying positions for FMS Groups and Contractors.
A Post Pentagon lowly One Star is worth between $2.8 and $41 million a year.
So, in essence, high dollar positions doing f##$ all.
RRH,
Nope. In their post Pentagon careers, the "sell" wars to the Public, they "sell" weapons systems to Governments, they "leverage" their contacts and "influence" to remove political obstacles like Human Rights Violations, or Balance of Power issues from Foreign Military Sales, they use their internal military contacts to ensure their employers get the contracts, or avoid oversight and investigation and most critically, they ensure that the right amount of unmarked bills in brown paper bags get's to the right people.
Jay,
If what you are saying is true why would the low mid-teen numbers not produce a mass exodus ASAP?? Why wait to get fired by Obama or his cronies? I don't think there are as many high paying positions as you think. Do you have numbers to back your point/position? I met some politicians as well as military men and many either do minor consulting work or retire. I just don't see the opportunities that you're talking about for all of them. I usually support your position/views but not on this issue.
As with most Organizations, the higher you go, the more similar level contacts you make, the better the money, the better the post retirement benefits, the better the post retirement opportunities.
As a Full Bird, you will have advised Generals, sat on Committee's with Congressional Staffers, interacted with mid-level MIC Management, which post retirement, amounts to a mid-level Management job organizing Trade Shows in Dubai and flying Commercial First Class.
As a One Star, you will have advised the JCS, managed programs, sat on Committees with Congressmen, interacted with MIC Senior Management, which post retirement, amounts to a Senior Level Management job, ( Programs, Divisions) making you the Major VIP Glad Hander at Trade Shows in Dubai, flying in on the Corporate Jet.
In the West, the most common path to be get a CEO, is to have been a CEO, (51%), or to have a Dad who was the CEO, (22%), so, as a 4 Star who has "managed" Theatres, advised Presidents, "managed" Congressmen, the sky is the limit.
The "big" question, is not "what these people would do after resigning", but instead, why is a large number of the "Senior Management" of the US Military, talking about resigning if Der Furour wins the Presidency?
Is it because they fear Der Furour's lack of lip management and seeming "impetuousness" and "ignorance" of Military Matters, will drag them into unwinnable, highly destructive wars and war crimes?
Is it because they fear Der Furour's "governance" model will break up the MIC,
Is it because they fear Der Furour's temper and ignorance of the Constitution and Military Matters will lead to endless shouting matches and utter strategic dysfunction?
Jay
Your view of America is inspiring!
You wouldn't happen to be retired would you?
phill,
I was supposed to be retired, but my Corporate Pension was bundled into a sub, the sub was debt loaded, spun off into a tax loss IPO, then bankrupted, leaving me with $1501.99 in a one time payment for 30 years service,
And of course, the Stock Market ate my investments,
So now I own and operate half a dozen small companies employing about 80 people, in various aspects of construction, building services and systems, and my retirement plan is to die of a massive stroke on the job.
Jay
Parts of your response almost sound American.....it's not easy being the middle class is it?
phill,
Who's Middle Class,
My Dad was on a High School Education,
And I was in my best earning years if you don't include all the debts to get there and the cyclical recessions,.....
There's not much Middle Class left, and I'm no longer part of it.
It's been ongoing since the '70's, ain't neoliberal economics just wonderful?
Since when did the military has an opinion about politics .
Is a very dangerous deal no good this condition the military to be partial.
Didn't the Nazi regime infiltre the German army in the 30s .
Si-vis-passen,
Sheridan, Lee, Butler, McArthur, LeMay,.....
Officers swear an oath to defend the Country, the Constitution, and obey the orders of the President.
Those are at times, mutually exclusive requirements,

Honourable Officers, if they believe their orders will violate one of their oaths, turn "whistleblowers" or in advance of receiving said orders, resign.
Alex
Jhon McCain is no longer a service man he got pay ten times more than what he deserves from the taxes of the good people of Arizona .and still sucking at the TTS John McCain Harry Reid Nancy Pelosi Chuck Schumer Mitch McConnell Dianne Feinstein which of these ones are you defending this people doesn't work for you.
They are corporate class like Donald Trump ,
they have an agenda to follow and it's not to cover your interest neither the interes of the people of the United States.
Thanks Jay
I was aware of operation Northwood
Thanks God that didn't happen other wise maybe you and I wouldn't be around.

Si-vis-passen,
"Or you can say that the Aurora theatre mass shooting and Sandy Hook school shootings are part of an on going Northwoods operations 2.0)?...:"
Nope, just too much fear, anger, resentment and way too many guns of the "wrong type".
In Moncton we had a guy go "psych" on the RCMP with a Norinco M-1, (M-14) clone that he bought for moose hunting.
In my day and age, a Savage .308 was deemed more than enough for moose hunting, never knew anyone who needed 10 quick shots with a scoped, bipoded .308 at long range to kill a moose. One shot, with maybe a finishing shot at ranges under 100 yards were ususally more than enough. Most of us used bolt actions, carried with the bolt open and the bullets in the pockets, feeding shots one at a time.
Jay
Neolibrilism.... who do you blame more Margaret Thatcher or Ronald Reagan?
Either way I inherited a mortgage and can't afford health insurance!
phill,
It started with Carter, Maggie and Ronny Raygun just pushed it to the fore and got it over the hump.
I blame the most, the morons who voted for "beggar thy neighbour" policies and " trickle down economics", in the dual belief's that a few pennies saved in taxes would amount to millions upon retirement, and that "at least, If I'm not doing well, at least I'm doing better than them!".
My wife can Cook an out of this world beef stew meat . With carrots potatoes another goodies but I never had moos wondering how much moos can improve my wife stew meat.
Moose is lean, tender, rich and unique, venisony, but richer.
Plus, you shoot one, and that's 800 to 1200 lbs of dressed meat in the freezer, enough meat for a family of 5 for 6 months.
The really hard part is most moose are shot in swampy ground, so packing the meat out is hard.
There is an old joke about 3 poachers who kill a moose, deep in the swamp. As they collapse around the truck , after the first day of hauling out the split hindquarters and the split rib cage, one of the poachers says to the others;
"Man, I am glad there are four of us hauling this out, other wise, this would be impossible",
At which point in time, one of the other poacher's says;
"Wait a minute, ain't supposed to but three of us hauling out this moose",
At which point in time the Conservation Officer says;
"Ain't nobody supposed to be hauling out this moose!".
Good one Jay.
I love moose meat.
Caribou meat is also good.
But moose .... hmmmmm ....
