Daily Signal: Putin Is Developing an Underwater Drone With Nuclear Weapons That Can Target U.S.
Russia is developing a drone submarine that can deliver a nuclear warhead or dirty bomb (targets electronics) at U.S. coastal areas. Russian officials confirmed the existence of the program – dubbed Kanyon by the Pentagon – after images of a document detailing plans for the sub were broadcast on Russian state-run television.
According to the document, Kanyon is intended to be capable of “damaging the important components of the adversary’s economy in a coastal area and inflicting unacceptable damage to a country’s territory by creating areas of wide radioactive contamination that would be unsuitable for military, economic, or other activity for long periods of time.”
In short, Russia is developing a new, technologically advanced delivery vehicle designed to wreak maximum devastation on American shores.
WNU Editor: I guess Russia has confidence in America's missile defense shield working .... hence the reason why they are developing a different means to deliver their nuclear payload.

Unless the drone can surface as it nears continental America and head for a city its damage is limited to ships, especially carriers. Imagine exploding such a device in the middle of a carrier group. I guess they could explode it in front of an advancing hurricane headed for shore in which case the radiation could be spread far and wide.
When you focus on developing such weapons you cannot stop the spread of them to your enemies and potential enemies who on building their own using your development efforts save a few bucks in costs. Every weapon of mass destruction developed by the US is already in the hands of potential enemies.
