This is no more than a provocation to the west, to bring the west into a fight .the problem is that I hate to say this President Obama's right on this. If you get the U.S. Military on a massive scale they will just hide and wait for along time.after an occupation of ten years they will be hoping to fight a guerrilla warfare for an other ten years.

The Russians nearly ground the mujaheddin in Afghanistan into the ground. It can happen. Except for British Blowpipes, American Stingers, and Chinese SA-7s, it would have happen. Iran probably threw something into the kitty too.

You can take the wrong lesson from Afghanistan. Maybe ISIS did and is.

And the alternative is to sit on their ass and do nothing?

Better force them into a cave than what is currently going on. Plus, I disagree. While naturally guerrilla warfare will play a large role in any large ground assault, forcing the death cult on the backburner so that ground can be regained, vital districts recovered, the displacement of the death cult's supporters and the re-fortifying of positions that were took, including taking back the cities that were over-run, removing the strategic infrastructure that is in place that is supporting the death cult...

None of those things I mentioned can 'hide'... They cannot hide the territory they took. They cannot hide their vast logistic network, although they can try, but it just won't be efficient.

All these can be removed with boots on the ground.

You're right. Whether some like it or not, that's what it will have to come to. A good case could be made that current policies guarantee that a large scale ground offense will be necessary.

Perhaps the enlightened Western nations could offer Islamic State "family planning" services instead? That would remove the touchy and inconvenient "newborn" issue.
