Washington Free Beacon: ISIS Seeking Improvised Anti-Aircraft Missile

Military says missile effort shows ISIS trying to counter impact of stepped up airstrikes.

Islamic State terrorists in Syria, assisted by western experts, are trying to develop improvised anti-aircraft missiles following stepped up airstrikes against its forces, according to U.S. officials and reports from the region.

The effort was disclosed by an anti-ISIS social media account that revealed the anti-aircraft arms development Dec. 15 on Twitter.

According to the Twitter user @Raqqa_SL, the new missiles are being developed in a desert area north of Raqqa, the ISIS headquarters. The terrorists have tried linking five bomb detonators and explosives to captured anti-aircraft missiles to enhance their explosive power against aircraft.

WNU Editor: I guess the bombing campaign is hurting them if they are that determined to acquire air-defences.

I guess the shoulder held missiles they took from Benghazi have already been used.
It's okay I'm sure than the Saudis will be resupplying them.

I don't think ISIS has much a chance against the fast moving jets with countermeasures.

They would be better off going for cargo resupply for Ramadi and helicopters.

How many manpads have the Turks given ISIS?

They certainly took in wounded ISIS fighter during the battle of Kobani and treated them inside Turkey.
