This Commentator Believes That If A 'Big War' Comes To Russia, Russia Will be Ready For War

Pepe Escobar, Sputnik: You Want War? Russia is Ready for War

Nobody needs to read Zbigniew “Grand Chessboard” Brzezinski’s 1997 opus to know US foreign policy revolves around one single overarching theme: prevent – by all means necessary – the emergence of a power, or powers, capable of constraining Washington’s unilateral swagger, not only in Eurasia but across the world.

The Pentagon carries the same message embedded in newspeak: the Full Spectrum Dominance doctrine.

Syria is leading all these assumptions to collapse like a house of cards. So no wonder in a Beltway under no visible chain of command – the Obama administration barely qualifies as lame duck – angst is the norm.

WNU Editor: I do not share Pepe Escobar's "optimistic" assessment. The U.S., NATO, America's allies in the Middle East (and elsewhere) .... Russia cannot defeat such a force by using its conventional forces .... in such a big war it will quickly escalate into a nuclear conflict .... and in that conflict everyone loses.

Hat Tip to RRH for this link.

What middle east allies? We have either betrayed them or crippled them and not one of them would go to war with Russia for us.

NATO outside of the U.S. is a hollow shell and lack any real force projection capabilities anymore. Half of Germany's Air Force was found to be unflyable when they agreed to help in Syria and Poland is the leading tank force in Western Europe.

Much of the U.S. military harware is worn out and out of date after extended deployments now and we have built new ships for ship to ship combat since the 90's.

Not saying Russia would win a conventional war in the long run, but it won't be quick or easy for us and will be bloody. It won't devolve to nuclear weapons that quick and will be won more by who has the willingness and fortitude to fight the long war.

That was meant to say no new ships for combat
