WSJ: Germany Plans to Tighten Deportation Rules
Law change in wake of New Year’s Eve assaults would make it easier to deport asylum seekers with criminal convictions
BERLIN—Germany plans to make it easier to deport foreigners with criminal convictions, seeking to calm a public outcry over allegations of mass New Year’s Eve assaults on women by mainly migrant men.
German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière and Justice Minister Heiko Maas proposed a law change Tuesday that would allow people granted or seeking asylum to be deported from Germany if they are sentenced to one year in prison. The law currently requires a three-year sentence to trigger an asylum seeker’s deportation.
Grounds for deportation would also be convictions without parole and suspended sentences for committing crime against life, physical integrity, sexual self-determination, property and attacks against police officers, including youth sentences, according to the proposed law.
WNU Editor: The problem for Angela Merkel is that she has lost credibility on this issue. Everyone knows that most of these migrants will not be deported because the countries where they are from are too dangerous to be deported to. But this attention and focus on who to deport is missing the BIG picture. Even though it is winter, thousands of migrants are still coming in everyday .... EU tells Turkey migrant flows 'still way too high' (DW), and that once the weather gets better everyone knows that these thousands will quickly explode into 10,000+ per day ... if not more. My prediction is that this will become a huge crisis by April/May .... and there will be a public outcry for governments to close the borders (all of them) .... and for politicians like Angela Merkel to say publicly that they will not accept any more refugees, and that those who do come in will not receive any official papers or assistance. But I doubt that this will stop the flood of migrants .... everyone is making a plan to flee to Europe (I even have relatives in Ukraine who are planning to move to Germany or Norway right now), and they do not care if they are accepted or not.

Yes, Merekel deporting convicts will work as well as Obama deporting illegals with convictions.
Mostly talks and very insincere.
The genie is out of the bottle ..
Merkel should be sacked and charged with treason ..
Some EU members told Merkel this would happen and to vet the newcomers but Merkel's hubris was too great!! Oh well, at least she is TIME's person of the year.
