Is Russian Intelligence Secretly Funding Political Parties In Europe?

The Telegraph: Russia accused of clandestine funding of European parties as US conducts major review of Vladimir Putin's strategy

Exclusive: UK warns of "new Cold War" as Kremlin seeks to divide and rule in Europe

American intelligence agencies are to conduct a major investigation into how the Kremlin is infiltrating political parties in Europe, it can be revealed.

James Clapper, the US Director of National Intelligence, has been instructed by the US Congress to conduct a major review into Russian clandestine funding of European parties over the last decade.

The review reflects mounting concerns in Washington over Moscow’s determination to exploit European disunity in order to undermine Nato, block US missile defence programmes and revoke the punitive economic sanctions regime imposed after the annexation of Crimea.

The US move came as senior British government officials told The Telegraph of growing fears that “a new cold war” was now unfolding in Europe, with Russian meddling taking on a breadth, range and depth far greater than previously thought.

I try to keep myself as far as possible from politics, but I can say, in my country, yes there were some strange relationshoip and support from Russia, to some not only political parties, and other groups. Last year one EP politition was detained because it's turned out that he could be a Russian spy, brought a lot of money to their party, and that his wife was a Russian spy in Japan around the end of cold war, and so on. Sure everyone does this kind of supporting, but it's can be said that it's very effective to change the peoples mind, and their reputation toward countries/nations/leaders. Or at least in my country.

When have the Russians not done this.

There are many politicians and so called journalists that want to keep the wraps on what western Intel agencies know of their past transgressions.

Not that they would be prosecuted. They still want continued power & respect, which they can;t have if everyone knows that they were bought and paid for quislings.

My guess is that Western agencies are running a multi tier caper on Putin in Russia. Good riddance to him and his anti democracy knuckle draggers.

WNU Editor,

In the 50's and '60's US Intel tried to smear Civil Rights and anti- war activists as Soviet funded front groups,

In the '70's, they added Environmentalists and the Non-Proliferation groups to the lists,

In the '80's and 90's they added anti FTA and LBGTQ groups to the list.

In the 'Aughts they added anti Tar Sands, anti fracking and Climate Change groups to the list.

Nice to see they havn't given up on the old smears.
