Russia's Economic Crisis Continues



Radio Free Europe: Russia's bleak winter: Protests grow as ruble weakens and Kremlin makes painful cuts

A dazzling display of festival lights makes Moscow look magical, brightening up the dark winter night. But the image of a bright, confident 2016 is a mirage.

"To tell you the truth, we are really worried for our country," says Anya Zhurova, passing by and lured in by the light show.

"We feel sick for our country and we hope our president [Vladimir Putin] can sort out all the plans he's made, but it's a difficult period."

WNU Editor: This is the number one concern in Russia right now. Everyone that I know in Russia .... family, friends, former associates, etc., .... they are all worried on where this economic crisis is heading. As for the protests .... they are not there yet, but as I had commented before .... if the economy continues to deteriorate, expect demonstrations and strikes by the end of this year.
