The Australian/WSJ: South Korea warms to missile shield after North’s nuclear tests
South Korea is leaning towards introducing an advanced US missile defence system to guard itself against threats from North Korea following Pyongyang’s nuclear test three weeks ago, a bulwark strongly opposed by China.
Current and former US officials who have recently spoken with top South Korean policymakers say the country has not decided whether to adopt the system the US has offered, but that informal talks between Washington and Seoul had been elevated recently.
One American official said there was a strong chance the US could announce that the two countries are in negotiations over the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence system, or Thaad, in the next week or so.
A former US official who recently met with senior South Korean officials said a consensus appeared to be forming in Seoul.
“Behind the scenes it looks like Thaad is close to a done deal,” this person said.

This missile "defense" system is actually aimed against Russia and China. South Korea is merely an expansion of the US army. Does anyone here actually think that north Korea is dumb enough to attack anyone? They'r stupid but not that stupid....
And no, I'm not a fan of Russia or China and I'm not "anti American",for me, siding/supporting any country (politically and militarily speaking) Is pretty disgusting. So I try to be unbiased.
I just like to keep an open mind that's all.
Peace
Actually a pretty good point Salim. " Does anyone here actually think that north Korea is dumb enough to attack anyone?" The problem is the current leader is demonstrably irrational, so who knows?
Which current leader?
Col. Pat Lang, Consortieum news, and various and sundry other "expert" sites, point out that the public presentations of the current Global situation by the MSM, the Alphabet Agencies, the Pentagon, State, the Think Tanks and the MSM don't reflect current realities, and havn't for a long time, over a decade.
The NORK's on the other hand, have lived in their own version of "reality" for over 50 years, but exhibit a certain "ruthless" pragmatism in keeping the Regime in power.
If the NORK's explode, THAAD won't stop the destruction of most of South Korea, it will barely dent it, but it will provide lot's of money for South Korean Politicians.
Stratfor made the claim some time back that the North Korean regime oscillates between "We're weak and puny and need your help, quit picking on us" and "We're wild and crazy and may just attack so you'd better play our game and pay us off."
