Mixed News From The Front Lines In Ukraine

Nolan Peterson, Daily Signal: A Real War Going On': Mixed News From the Front Lines in Ukraine

KYIV, Ukraine—The two-year-old Ukraine war has hit a grim milestone amid the longest and most durable lull in fighting since the conflict began.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko last week said 2,269 Ukrainian soldiers have died since the conflict in eastern Ukraine began in spring 2014.

That toll almost matches the 2,381 American troops killed during roughly 14 years of combat operations in Afghanistan.

“Ukraine’s KIA [killed in action] rate in such a short amount of time shows how serious the situation is in the country,” Luke Coffey, director of the Douglas and Sarah Allison Center for Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation and a U.S. Army veteran, said.

WNU Editor: All my friends, family members, and associates in Ukraine are telling me the same thing about the conflict in their country .... a ceasefire exists in name only. IEDs, snipers, the odd artillery exchange .... that is now the norm on the front. As for the rest of Ukraine .... high unemployment, inflation, monstrous debt, corruption, a collapse of social/government services, etc., etc., etc. .... the war is just one mess on top of many. As for the politicians who run the country starting with President Poroshenko .... 6 months ago their polls numbers were in the toilet .... Polls: Ukrainian Public Dissatisfied With Current Conditions. Ukraine Government And Ukraine President Poroshenko Deeply Unpopular .... if another poll was done today .... trust me on this one .... these numbers would be far worse.

Spoken like a brainwashed Russian. No good guys on either side there, Ukraine has so many issues, most significant is the corruption. The Russian economy isn't exactly booming and these conflicts are a great distraction for the government. "But for" Russian direct intervention, the war would not have occurred or at least lasted very long. Please don't tell me the new artillery, tanks, anti aircraft missile batteries, and thousands of heavy armed and well trained fighters that appear and disappear aren't Russian military. The Ukrainians should have shot the first mysterious heavily armed, but patch less soldiers who appeared out of no where in Crimea. You know the ones Russia said weren't Russian soldiers, and after the anexation said were Russian soldiers. Then the Eastern Ukraine intervention may have never happened or perhaps Russia would have invaded. Either way we wouldn't be playing this Russian shell game. Heads up, when you get your information from "state media" you should probably question a bit more. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not telling you anything other than the shit you people pulled in Ukraine brought this situation on.

Russia's "intervention" and the war that "occurred" is in contrast to the slaughter and ethnic cleansing you people had planned in the Donbass and elsewhere. ---Just like she is being blamed for "drawing out" the fight against Islamofascists in Syria, you people never stop or learn---You should get your information from somewhere other than the UCC, the AZOV Stürmer (or whatever publication out of the wolfsangel press) or Regis and Kathy whomever in the morning.

When those/you dumb MFers put up SS runes, tatooed 10/88 all over their faces, took money and orders from NATO, threatened and murdered (E.g. Odessa .. oh more Russian brainwashing I suppose) ethnic Russians, violently overthrew the government and took up positions in the so called new legitimate state, they and you, their backers, sympathizers, enablers and PR hacks, brought the GRADs on your simple, silly, and stupid selves.

Where did I deny Russia's intervention?! I support it and will continue to support it until every single one of those fascist bastards is turned over in the soil. I don't have to agree with or like tge current government in Russia to support their foreign policy. Furthermore, Russia's economic situation worsened hugely AFTER her intervention because you NAZIs punnished her with sanctions.

Put your 2 cents in the (S)SOS Ukraine NAZI support collection can.

So much unintelligible and factually inaccurate things in your, I guess response, it's difficult to begin. First rule of arguments, when you compare anything to the Nazis you've already lost the argument. Ukraine is fighting with old second hand Soviet weapons and most don't work. No NATO troops are there. However, if they were there or even supplying offense weaponry, the battlefield would look much different. We won't supply artillery locating technology or anti-tank missiles to Ukraine. Russia is basically fighting a third world country to a draw. Also, the Russian economy has collapsed because 80% of it is based on fossil fuels and it's value is less than a quarter of what it was a year or more ago. No signs of it rebounding any time soon. Sanctions only targeted individuals personally involved in stealing Crimea and supporting the intervention or invasion of Eastern Ukraine (basically those in and close to the government who benefit from the conflicts). It has little effect on the Russian economy. Could you imagine if the US banned it's banking industry from dealing with Russia and it's industries, or anyone working with Russia and it's industries? Where would financing come from, because the banking industry would always choose the US economy over the tiny backwards Russian economy. There is the reality of today. It might hurt for Russian nationalist to hear, but it is really. Russia can join the world community and be a responsible player or be an island, but if it chooses the latter it will do the Soviet Union cycle all over again.
