ABC News: US General Calls 'Carpet Bombing' ISIS Against American Values
While some Republican presidential candidates have suggested that “carpet bombing” ISIS would lead to a quick defeat of the terror group, the top U.S. military commander fighting ISIS doesn’t think that’s a good idea and “inconsistent with our values.”
Lt. General Sean MacFarland told Pentagon reporters today in a video-conference from Baghdad that the U.S. is bound by the laws of armed conflict and “at the end of the day, you know, it doesn’t only matter whether or not you win, it matters how you win."

MacFarland is so full of crapola it's coming out his ears. The US carpet-bombed cities in Germany, Japan, Vietnam, and Korea, to name a few. The story is that in 1950 a USAF general went before Congress, and when asked what are you going to bomb next, responded "There's nothing left to bomb." There were two buildings partially left in Pyongyang, and that was it for the whole country.
For a recent example google "Kobane" -images -- in northern Syria and see the results. The news report at the time quoted a USAF airman as saying they "went Winchester" over Kobane, i.e. they dropped everything they had on board, on that one city.
American values definitely include carpet-bombing.

Agree was just about to make the same point except maybe Kobane they had great intel as to exactly where the enemy was.
