Will Russia Cause World War III?

John R. Schindler, Observer: Mounting Evidence Putin Will Ignite WWIII

By letting Putin get away with whatever he likes in Syria, Obama has created a deeply dangerous situation.

Relations between Russia and Turkey have been dismal since late November, when a Turkish fighter jet shot down a Russian bomber on the border with Syria, killing its pilot. That began a war of words between Moscow and Ankara that ought to concern everyone, since the former has several thousand nuclear weapons and the latter is a member of NATO.

Kremlin propaganda against Ankara has increased of late, setting the stage for further confrontation. As I explained here last week, Russian media outlets initially blamed the Sinai crash of Metrojet 9268 last autumn on the Islamic State, an atrocity which killed 224 innocents, nearly all of them Russians—a quite plausible claim. However, the Kremlin has abruptly shifted course and now blames the mass murder on Turkish ultranationalist terrorists without any evidence provided to support that explosive assertion.

"Much of this commentary is straight out of the early and middle years of the Cold War, when events in the Middle East were assessed in large part in terms of which of the two superpowers was gaining influence in a particular capital by winning the friendship of the local strongman or through a coup that installed some new strongman."

Oh right, not stopping Russia from helping an ally resist a foreign-sponsored invasion is "letting Putin get away with whatever he likes in Syria" -- not. That's just stupid commentary from John Schindler, a former analyst at the National Security Agency, who needs to brush up on his analyst skills, and add some recognition of what is right and what is wrong in the world, which may be an alien concept to an ex-NSA spook.

Hmm, so how exactly is World War Three supposed to start if the White House NOT backing Turkey is the problem? They don't back it so hard that we end up taking it for a green light to do whatever we want and take back Tsargrad, finally forcing a response? :) Not really good at selling the World War Three angle there.

"Felgenhauer initially described retaking South Ossetia from Georgia as a Russian logistical nightmare, and claimed that Russia would face a prolonged and difficult war against Georgia's "quite good military".[5] After the Russian Army routed the Georgian Army in five days, Felgenhauer said that Russia's invasion was pre-planned.[6]"

See, Putin is Hiltler, or actually in this stretched comparison, a combination of Archduke Franz-Joseph and Kaiser Willhelm, and if he's not stopped in Aleppo, he will send the Russian Hordes and Cossacks south into Anatolia and take Istanbul, then with the Greeks, take Cypruss,

Then shortly after, New York City will fall, along with Washington DC, and our only remaining hope will be "Wolverines" along the eastern flanks of the Rockies.

Once upon a time in the USA it was completely acceptable for a "white" person raise their hand to someone "black". If, however, someone "black" did the same or defended theselves this was seen as a crime of the worst sort.

This form of exceptionalism has since been passed on to U.S./"western" foreign policy. This, respectfully, is not simply stupid commentary, it is the expression, replete with shrill moral indignation, of a contemporary international Jim Crow policy.

Summed up, "How dare they do what we have deemed only we are privileged to do. Just who so these uppity ******* think they are? They must be repressed at our peril, lest the Mongol races take heart and produce more of these global Williamites."
