The Virginia Pilot:Navy: 8 sailors aboard USS Eisenhower injured when cable breaks during E-2C Hawkeye landing
Eight sailors working on the flight deck of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower were injured Friday when a cable used to catch a landing aircraft’s tailhook broke, according to the Navy.
Four of the sailors were flown by helicopter to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, while two were taken to Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. Norfolk General has the only Level 1 trauma center in the region and handles the most severe injuries. When reached Friday night, Mike Maus, a Naval Air Force Atlantic spokesman, said the injured sailors were stable.

WNU Editor: A few years ago I got to know someone who served on the USS Harry Truman. He worked outside .... and yes .... he told me then that the flight deck can be very dangerous at times. Eight sailors and their colleagues learned that lesson yesterday.

The Hawkeye made it. I wonder if the cable was abraded.
Very respectfully I think they already knew. Military service especially of this type is among the most dangerous of professions in the world.
I wanted to be in the military when I was younger but my eyesight is poor. As such, this was not going to be feasible for me.
In today's world, the military receives very little support from the American people, is constantly demonized in the media, faces ridiculously restrictive rules of engagement, has leaders who wish to coddle Islamists at every turn, situations where men and women are being deployed to far off places around the world to carry fruitless missions that have no utility to negative utility for American national or economic security, veterans receive substandard care from the VA, the equipment is poor, and the training is substandard. As such, morale is rock bottom.
I recall a certain general saying if Donald Trump becomes POTUS troop morale would suffer. 1.)Very respectfully this General is a complete idiot who should be sacked forthwith. Morale among US forces is already at rock bottom and could not possibly get any lower. I've been pointing out this for years. If this general does not know about this, we are in even worse shape than I thought. Also, to hear a commanding officer say such things, certainly cannot help "morale" either but again morale among these men and women cannot get any lower.
In contrast, Donald Trump has said some things that may indicate a much more "get tough" approach with these enemies than is currently being employed. While the policies he proposes can and should be debated based upon their merits, such suggestions cannot hurt morale and should help morale assuming he's elected and follows through as the troops would FINALLY have someone who supports them, respects them, and has their backs. Additionally Mr. Trump skipped a debate in Iowa to hold a veterans benefit. This was a move that likely cost him a victory in Iowa. In other words representing the troops was more important to him than a political win. As such, a Trump victory cannot hurt troop morale and would likely help it. Of course the idiot general who made such remarks could get fired. Now the sacking of this idiot would be a huge boost to troop morale!!
Please understand Trump is NOT my first choice but his critics and even a few of his supporters are way over the top. As his supporters do not get the airtime his critics do, there's little need to focus on them.
Back to the topic at hand. Again, very respectfully the eight sailors and their colleagues did not "learn" this lesson yesterday. It is not as if these people are young children just learning that touching a hot stove hurts. They've no doubt trained for scenarios such as this repeatedly. I've know a number of men who worked on aircraft carriers as well and they all alluded to how dangerous the job is as the person you got to know did.
Trump will not start a presidency with an apology tour kow-towing to everyone like a martinet.
The Joint Chiefs will lay out option for Trump and he will not take several weeks or months to decide and then 1/2 ass it like Obama did with the Afghanistan surge.
Like Rush said "Obama is the least qualified person of any room he walks into."
So Trump is more qualified to be president than Obama, which is not saying much because 0bama is a ZERO!
Aizino,
I couldn't have put this any better myself regarding Obama qualifications. As for Mr. Trump, I'm not sure he can apologize which may be a character flaw. In any event, we cannot "know" for certain what a candidate will do once in a given office until he/she actually gets elected. With that said based upon prior actions we can make inferences on what someone will do when in a given position. As such, I think we can state with a high degree of probability Mr. Trump would not start as POTUS with an apology tour.
As for Zero (Obama) given his prior history, his upbringing, and his prior associations with the most extreme anti-American personnel, the apology tour came as no surprise to me and was, in fact, expected.
Additionally America is a nation deeply infected with self-hatred. A friend of mine referred to it as "Cultural Stockholm Syndrone." This description is spot on regarding the USA. As such, it's hardly surprising that Americans would elect him to represent them not once but twice.
Furthermore, zero the man is still very popular as a person among Americans even if many do not support his policies are there results. This is in contrast to some other genuinely pro-American personnel who had flawed policies and are now universally despised.
The only questions that remain are as follows. 1.) Having realized that self-hatred has only begat even more contempt from the world will Americans finally decide they've had enough and act decisively to represent their/our just intersts. I'd say the answer to this question is 50/50. 2.) Can the damage done by zero be reversed. I'd suggest the answer to that question is about a 1% chance it can be. Even before Zero ever appeared on America's political scene I have patiently explained that Russia and China are the world's most powerful countries and will be for the foreseeable future. We need to set our policies accordingly. 3.) Who is the best candidate to lead America right now. Bernie the commie has the most support but lacks the support structure to make a serious run. This alone would tend to suggest Americans may not even be remotely qualified to choose their leaders.
