A Look At The Top-Secret Nevada Facility Known As Area 6

Area 6 (pictured), which was once used for underground nuclear testing, is located in Yucca Flat and is part of the Nevada National Security Site, where 1,000 nuclear tests were conducted between 1945 and 1992

Daily Mail: Area 6 revealed: Top-secret Nevada facility rumored to be where the Pentagon tests high-tech unmanned drones to detect terrorist dirty bombs is as ultra hush-hush as the more infamous Area 51

* Area 6, in Yucca Flat, Nevada, was once used for nuclear testing
* A runway was added in 2005 and the area now has a large hangar and several smaller buildings
* Agencies use it to test their sensors away from the public eye
* The aircraft tested at the sight are unmanned and controlled from the ground

A shielded Nevada airbase used by government agencies to test unmanned aircraft has shown up on Google Earth.

Four tests and six detonations happened in Area 6 according to a report by the US Department of Energy.
