Economist Intelligence Unit: Donald Trump Is A Major Global Risk

China experiencing a 'hard landing' topped the list of risks, while a 'Grexit' which provokes the break up of the Euro was ranked higher than Brexit

Daily Mail: Donald Trump becoming US President is more dangerous to the world economy than Brexit - but they both rank in the top 10 according to analysts

* Economist Intelligence Unit ranked a 'hard landing' by China as top threat
* Trump winning the White House listed sixth, two places ahead of Brexit
* The new rankings come after Chancellor was criticised for encouraging G20 warning about the risk of Brexit to the world economy

Donald Trump winning the White House in November is a bigger risk to the world economy than a Brexit vote in June, analysts have claimed today.

But both events would shake global prosperity if they were to occur, the Economist Intelligence Unit said today as it produced a new register of the top ten risks.

Top of the list is a 'hard landing' for the Chinese economy - reflecting the shudders China's slowdown has already sent through global stock markets.

The Economist is married to Free Trade. It's like 1906 never ended for them in that regard. Donald Trump is a protectionist. In other words, he is an economic Satan in their religion, and if he wins they expect he will conduct a blasphemous policy of economic nationalism. And give everyone else a bad example. Of course in their mind that has got to ruin the "global economy".

Exactly what the poster above said: Trump is running on an explicit policy of protectionism in the world's largest market. Assuming (as the Economist does) that "the global economy" means "the world economic system as it exists today" yes, Trump winning is a huge threat to it.

Trump will be bad for China and all those other countries that American manufacturing went too. I personally believe that we in the west need to stop the transfer of jobs/wealth to the third world and instead look after our own people first this is what Trump is proposing. Globalism sucks.
