Iraq Brings In The Draft To Wage War Against The Islamic State

NBC: Iraq Military Seeks Draft for First Time Since Fall of Saddam Hussein

Iraq's embattled military chiefs announced they will try to impose conscription for the first time since the fall of Saddam Hussein.

The draft law would be sent to Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and the country's parliament for approval.

The country's forces have struggled to defeat ISIS extremists who have taken over swathes of the county. ISIS' advances have been a huge embarrassment for the Iraqi military as soldiers retreated en masse from some of the front lines and extremists paraded hardware captured from the army.

WNU Editor: If your country is in a life and death struggle against a very dangerous and destructive enemy .... it is war and you bring in the draft immediately. The Iraqis have to assume the responsibility for saving their country .... relying on the U.S, NATO, Arab allies for boots on the ground .... it is not going to work. The next question that needs to be asked is .... will this draft work, or will it only ensure more Iraqis fleeing the country to go to Germany/Europe. I guess we are going to find out in the coming months.
