Mexican President Nieto Compares Donald Trump To Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini

The Guardian: Mexican president compares Trump rhetoric to Hitler and Mussolini

* Peña Nieto warns that ‘strident’ words have led to ‘very ominous situations’
* President says Mexico will not pay for proposed border wall

Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto has said that comments by US presidential candidate Donald Trump have damaged relationships between the two countries, and compared Trump’s “strident” tone to those of fascist leaders Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

In his most outspoken comments so far on the GOP frontrunner, Peña Nieto also denied that Mexico would cover the cost of Trump’s proposed border wall.

WNU Editor: These Hitler comparisons are getting lame. Talked to my Russian mother who had to endure the German invasion during the Second World War if there is any truth to the comparison of Hitler to Trump .... her answer .... not even close. Her best friend who is German (96 years old and still going strong) .... her answer was also the same .... zero comparison, and as she told me it does a de-service on muddying the evil legacy of Hitler. I asked my GF's grandfather who is Italian and who lived in Sicily when Mussolini was in power if there is any comparison .... his answer .... I think he is still laughing. What Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto should do if he wants to impact the U.S. election is to point out why Donald Trump's policies are wrong, and why it will hurt the U.S.. Otherwise this is just character assassination that will only give more support to Donald Trump.

Mexican president said that Mexico will not pay for a wall .
Mexico gets free money from the US every year as formal aid.
We can use that money to build that wall.

I'm reminded of an old saying I heard years ago regarding two grade school aged kids. The lesson went something like this. "Susie you worry about Susie. Let Johnny worry about Johnny." (Susie and Johnny were the two kids.) To put this in modern day adult language, Mexico needs to worry about Mexico let the United States worry about the United States.

On the surface, the Hitler an Mussolini comparisons would seem ridiculous. Unfortunately with the world wide media bias against the United States much of the world is going to buy into this sort of messaging. Hitler and Mussolini invaded their neighbors in an attempt to subjugate them. Additionally Hitler killed millions of Jews for essentially no reason in attempt to exterminate them. The United States has not done this nor is anyone talking about exterminating anyone either on the American side.

As for the "wall", normal people have walls of separation and generally fences between themselves and their neighbors. This is what normal people and nations do. To refer to Mr. Trump or any other US leader or want to be leader as Hitler/Mussolini is patently absurd and deeply offensive.

Is their some way to "censure" Mexico or something at the UN? Does the United States have any recourse here? There bears frighteningly little difference between much of the world wide media messaging including the US media against America than the messaging that preceded the holocaust against the Jews during WWII. Such messaging is often the prelude to an invasion or some type of mass slaughter. Are Mexico and it's allies planning an invasion of the United States?

By proposing a barrier between itself and a generally hostile neighbor the US would be simply behaving as a normal nation/people behave. Mr. Trump is absolutely correct in suggesting Mexico should pay for this. Generally speaking when someone is wronged as the Mexico has repeatedly and flagrantly wronged the United States over many decades it would be reasonable for the United States to receive favorable judgment in a normal court of law. Part of this judgment would likely include financial compensation that could go towards construction of the wall.

Unfortunately I'm under no delusion that any court of law is going to rule fairly in this case as they will simply rubberstamp whatever Mexico or any other American adversary wants. As an American, I'm prepared to live with and honor any fair judgments that may be rendered. Unfortunately such courts can only be counted on deny justice to America.

Furthermore expect the world media to side with Mexico on this. such over the top rhetoric and hubris may actually help the "deal maker" to get elected. Is this actually what they want? I do think it highly likely that Mexico along with allies are planning an invasion of America. Slandering the enemy is often a first step. <r. Trump or whoever POTUS turns out to be along with his/her team need to be preparing this. This is all the more reason to build the wall!!

Si-vis-pasen,

You may be right. This may be how "the deal maker" expects to get Mexico to pay for the wall. Essentially they would be paying for it albeit indirectly.

"The history of Islam in southern Italy began with the first Muslim settlement in Sicily, at Mazara, which was captured in 827.[1] The subsequent rule of Sicily and Malta started in the 10th century.[2] Islamic rule over Sicily began in 902, and the Emirate of Sicily lasted from 965 until 1061. Though Sicily was the primary Muslim stronghold in Italy, some temporary footholds, the most substantial of which was the port city of Bari (occupied from 847 until 871), were established on the mainland peninsula, with Muslim raids reaching as far north as Rome and Piedmont. The Muslim raids were part of a larger struggle for power in Italy and Europe, with Christian Byzantine, Frankish, Norman and local Italian forces also competing for control. Muslims were sometimes sought as allies by various Christian factions against other factions."

I suspect these accusations are intended as comparisons to the Hitler of 1930, not the Hitler of 1940...

Walls failed in the 13th Century with the advent of the mine, the petard and the cannon.

While "Free" Trade is global, Fair Trade doesn't travel very far from your local Farmers Market.
