I don't know what to think of this photo. A lot of new issue, especially boots. I count at least three rifles in the dirt, with one guy sitting on one. A lot of old guys (which makes sense from the "self defense unit" desig). Don't who's trying to stand these guys up for work, Amer, Syrian, or Russian. Probably Syrian effort with Russian/s off camera.
The problem with these guys goes back to RUFF PUFFS and way beyond that, is if they don't buy into the idea whole heartedly, get a breather for training, some easy victories for experience, and some hard core back up, they are dead men. They become #1 on ISIS's hit list.
The guy in the back with his head turned must not like the guy next to him too much, "accidents happen"
It's a militia. Motley as this crew seems, I'm willing to bet there are some vets among the "old guys".
