Washington Post: A ‘prank’ video featuring a fake Saudi suicide bomber was definitely not funny
TubeUp, a YouTube channel that shares short videos, is remarkably popular in Saudi Arabia, with the channel's signature hidden-camera prank videos in particular gaining a wide audience.
However, one recent prank, in which unsuspecting Saudis were tricked into believing they were about to die in a suicide bombing, may have gone too far.
The three-minute video starts with an actor in a fake taxi picking up real passengers. In each case, the fake taxi driver begins talking to his passengers, before turning the topic of conversation to religious extremism and suicide bombing before revealing a realistic-looking fake explosive belt.
"You will be in heaven with a single press of this button," the actor shouts at one passenger.
