China test-fired one of its newest intercontinental ballistic missiles last week amid rising tensions between Beijing and Washington over the South China Sea, US media reported on Wednesday.
News website Washington Free Beacon, quoting unnamed Pentagon officials, reported that a DF-41 – which has a range of at least 12,000km – was launched on April 12. The website has a proven track record in breaking news about operations of the People’s Liberation Army.
News of the launch comes amid a visit to disputed islands in the South China Sea by General Fan Changlong, who is the vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission. The visit was announced by the defence ministry on Friday.

Probably reversed engineered it.
It would be nice to have some of those designed from scratch or reversed engineered. The political class doesn't want a smaller pie nor do they have the brains or the balls.
It's an all China product.
The only rocket/missile technology China got/bought from Russia/USSR was old school '60's stuff, liquid fueled.
This has MIRV, SWERV, DECOYS, soild fuel, 30 foot CEP, and is the longest range ICBM in the world.
It's a technological byproduct of China's Space Program.
The US can launch 1000 a thousand nm at China in under 15 minutes. In the process,they can easily destroy 90 % of China's nm.
So let's be realistic. The PLA wont launch any nm as they are easily outgunned by the sheer no of US nm.
The problem is the US wants to be able to use nm without being hit.That is a no go for the Xi Jing Ping.He would make absolutely sure though China can be razed the US will be subject to unacceptable damage .
Even with the missile shield,etc,the US wont be able to escape massive destruction. You can bet your house the PLA will be searching for ways to cause more destruction. No need to get parity with US forces.
The current US fon patrols in the SEA waters are nothing but to provoke China into a war like US patrols in the Tonkin Gulf 1964.
Then Johnson conned Congress into a war with 58000 young GIS dead on his tomb.I t came about because US navy ships were attacked by the NV .The NV were provoked and that's how the war started.
This missile test is to show China aint defencelss like Mao's time or even ten years ago.It aint like Iraq where US planes can all return safely after bombing.
In short the US is acting like a gangster pissing outside China's garden. The Chinese cant do any thing currently but will make sure
any extreme provocation will be answered.
The WH tenant shd be held responsible and the Nobel peace prize rescinded.
