Did The U.S. Cover-Up Saudi Arabia's Role In 9/11

Paul Sperry, New York Post: How US covered up Saudi role in 9/11

In its report on the still-censored “28 pages” implicating the Saudi government in 9/11, “60 Minutes” last weekend said the Saudi role in the attacks has been “soft-pedaled” to protect America’s delicate alliance with the oil-rich kingdom.

That’s quite an understatement.

Actually, the kingdom’s involvement was deliberately covered up at the highest levels of our government. And the coverup goes beyond locking up 28 pages of the Saudi report in a vault in the US Capitol basement. Investigations were throttled. Co-conspirators were let off the hook.

Case agents I’ve interviewed at the Joint Terrorism Task Forces in Washington and San Diego, the forward operating base for some of the Saudi hijackers, as well as detectives at the Fairfax County (Va.) Police Department who also investigated several 9/11 leads, say virtually every road led back to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, as well as the Saudi Consulate in Los Angeles.

Yet time and time again, they were called off from pursuing leads. A common excuse was “diplomatic immunity.”

"Immunity against such judgements is standard international law and known as "acta iure imperii" - the principal that no foreign court can judge the liability of a nation state for acts and omissions in the exercise of the nation state's authority.

Should the U.S. Congress break that principal, any foreign national wealth fund, pension fund or otherwise state related institution could have its U.S. assets impounded under this or that dubious terrorism judgement."

On the otherhand, the Saudi's were up to their eyeballs in 9/11.

Hah,

This is so huge - if it comes to light that the US gov knew in detail the connection between Saudi $ and 9/11 then the premise of 15 years of war against, "THOSE WHO WISH TO DO EVIL AGAINST THE US" will be compromised... Anyone privy to this info since it was blacked out is complicit in the biggest scam the world has ever witnessed - which is why we wont see anything.

"Sadly, this whole orchestrated move toward declassifying the 28 pages may well be a charade — a threat to the Saudis designed to make them change their ways. At this point, after tolerating Saudi double dealing for so long, those 28 pages indict Americans just as badly as they indict the Saudis."

It is time to publish. Jay above is very likely right in that this a move with extraneous reasons. Publish, I don't care who it exposes and damages (even those of my ideological bent), the cover up has become more toxic to the body politic in general than to any person or group.
What surprises me is the Saudi's reaction to this, if I was them I'd support publishing, at the least to remove a weapon that could be held over my head anytime for the foreseeable future.

The revelations are being held back as they would (or should) shake the system to its core. It's a question of legitimacy and it has implications for more than just the U.S.

I was never a big fan of Orwell but his words hsve proven to be prophetic.

"The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia, but to keep the very structure of society intact."
