My Take On The U.S. Democrat Presidential Nomination Race

Glenn Thrush, Politico: Hillary Clinton has had enough of Bernie Sanders

In an exclusive interview for POLITICO's 'Off Message' podcast, the former secretary of state compares Donald Trump to foreign demagogues and says she's not even sure her primary opponent is a Democrat.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — There’s an unmistakable Groundhog Day quality to this spring campaign swing by Hillary Clinton: the chain-chugged Diet Dr Peppers, the pained rasp and crisp pantsuits — and the once-commanding lead undercut by an underdog near enough to nip at her sensible heels.

Seventeen years ago, the underdog was Rick Lazio, a forgettable Long Island Republican with a paperboy’s face and a war chest brimming with anti-Hillary millions who gave Clinton a brief scare in a triumphant Senate race that inaugurated her electoral career. This year, the foil is independent democratic socialist Bernie Sanders, a stubborn Brooklynite with a nearly non-existent path to the nomination and a nearly unquenchable thirst for humiliating the Democratic front-runner in her home state’s April 19 primary.

WNU Editor: The 2016 delegate count and primary results for the Democrat race is here. Hillary Clinton is in trouble, and if trends continue she will be lucky to have only have a small margin in her favour of pledged delegates over Bernie Sanders. But if I was a betting man, I will say that she will win the nomination .... the Democrat Party's super delegates have made it very clear that they are going to support her over Bernie Sanders. But the aftermath of this race will damage her .... I do not find her to be an aspiring candidate, and her only way to motivate Bernie Sander's supporters to support her will be to put the fear of God in them on who the Republican candidate may be. Will such a negative campaign work .... we shall see.

Bernie or bust is still trending. Right now, ( barring a Convention that adopts large parts of Bernie's Platform as the Democratic Party Platform, or Bernie winning), large numbers, ( and that's the thing, Bernies GOTV is huge), of both Dem and Indi Berniac's are saying they will either write in Bernie in the General, or stay home.

Mean while, Clinton's bringing out the smears, ( like she did against Obama), and on Dem sites, that's not going over very well.
