Saudi Arabia Threatens To Dump Their U.S. Assets If 9/11 Bill Is Passed (Update)

Daily Mail: Saudi Arabia threatens to pull $750 billion in U.S. assets if Congress passes bill making its government liable for 9/11-related lawsuits

* The administration has tried to stop Congress from passing the legislation
* Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Juberi told Washington lawmakers the country would be forced to sell $750 billion in Treasury securities
* The revelations come as President Obama decided whether to declassify 28 pages of sealed 9/11 documents
* White House will make a decision by June
* Bush and Obama administrations have refused to unseal the documents, arguing their release would jeopardize national security
* Suggestions the files could expose a Saudi connection to the attacks
* 15 of the 19 hijackers - and Osama bin Laden - were from Saudi Arabia
* President Obama will arrive in Riyadh on Wednesday for meetings with King Salman and other Saudi officials

Officials in Saudi Arabia have reportedly told the Obama administration they will sell off hundreds of billions of dollars of American assets if Congress passes a bill that would allow the Saudi government to be held responsible for any role in the September 11 attacks.

The warning was delivered by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir last month during a visit to Washington, the New York Times reported.

The minister said his country would sell up to $750 billion in US treasury securities and other assets before the bill puts them in jeopardy.

WNU Editor: The Saudis are clearly nervous on what is in the 28 pages that pertains to them. That tells me that (1) they know what is in it, and (2) the legal liabilities that will hit them. So my advice to the U.S. remains the same, if the Saudis know what is in the report, maybe the American people should also know what is in the report.

So does will this revelation result in the dismissal of the Iran 9/11 lawsuit? Any war crimes trials for the wars started againsts other countries alluding to them being responsible. What about the massive US intellegence and Saudi intelligence connections. Who benefitted after these attacks. It WAS an inside job. If proper investigations follow this will be quite the can of worms.

The two articles above and many, many more outline the deep penetration of Saudi capital into Canada. Canadians should be no less alarmed (and up in arms) than Americans about the Canadian Government/elite relationship with a known sponsor of terrorism. Judging by the reluctance to reveal the 28 pages,
it is no leap to believe that sponsorship included the events of 9/11.

Steven is right. This is a major "can of worms" especially if enough people demand the full letter of the law be applied. It would be no small comeuppance to see a good many politicians (and their sponsors), who pushed for and passed anti-terrorism laws, have security certificates issued for their arrest, their assets frozen and travel bans imposed.

I have believed from the beginning that some within the Saudi kingdom played a role in 9/11, but the question has always been why.

Some of the evidence points to private security/defense corporations being involved who also have ties to the U.S. government.

"A can of worms" is an understatement. If this information implicates the Saudis in the way we seem to believe it will, then the Saudis may in turn release what they know about 9/11.

Some believe that the attack was orchestrated to create the atmosphere to get legislation like "The Patriot Act" passed and to form government agencies with immense executive power like DHS. (A "Reichstag Fire" event - so to speak)

Hold your breath; the worms coming out of this can could be venomous and fighting for their lives.

Who needs television?

It will get even worse when the lawsuits start piling up. If Congress pushes through a bill allowing the seizure of Saudi assets and lawsuits, it will open the U.S. (and others) to all kinds of trouble.

It will be as if every victim of some nation's activities has the ability to sue governments for damages. It's hard to believe the powers that be will allow this to pass. The power outlined here is reserved for special interests such as those protected by Chapter 11
of NAFTA.

Dupuis got the point: why this involvement?

From that day the "War on terror" became the drug for peoples minds like the mantra of social reform (welfare cuts) and free market (privatizations of public assets) caused by public debt (big private frauds put on the shoulders of public).

This is a mutual venomous alliance that grant military spending, extension of armed control, drive politics and social protests and sterilize the oppositions.

A soft global regime that may go wild.
