U.S. Defense And National Security Officials Want The 9/11 Bill To Go Away

Response: The Saudi Arabian government said it had nothing whatsoever to do with the September 11 attacks

Nancy Yousseff & Shane Harris, Daily Beast: Pentagon: Don’t Sue the Saudis for 9/11

They may have promoted al Qaeda’s poisonous ideology. But Saudi Arabia is too valuable an ally against today’s terrorism to allow ordinary Americans to make the kingdom pay.

There’s a major push in Congress right now for a bill that could hold the government of Saudi Arabia legally responsible for the 9/11 attacks. U.S. military and counterterrorism officials now leading the fights against al Qaeda and ISIS think that bill is a terrible idea.

“We don’t need this debate right now,” one defense official said, like others speaking on condition of anonymity because they’re not authorized publicly to criticize the bill, known as the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act. Saudi officials have lobbied hard against the bill, telling members of the Obama administration, lawmakers, and journalists that the Saudi government has been a stalwart ally with the U.S. and was fighting al Qaeda years before it ever attacked American soil.

That message is resonating inside the Pentagon and in U.S. national security circles. Two former officials, who likewise declined to comment on the record about the bill, said it represented a troubling insertion of politics at a key point in the war against ISIS and would distract from a shared goal of combatting Islamic extremism.

WNU Editor: Even the co-sponsor of the bill in the U.S. Senate is backtracking on his own legislation .... Lindsey Graham blocks Saudi 9/11 bill (The Hill). Bottom line .... there is going to be no bill that would make Saudi Arabia accountable for its actions (if any) on 9/11, and I am willing to bet that these same officials are also voicing opposition to making public the 28 pages of the 9/11 report that are still secret.

Everything else gets leaked.

Every one of the families of people murdered in the 9/11 attacks received $1M per. So about $3B total. Saudi Arabia would be looking at 3,000 times say, $20M each in these suits - (just guessing on the number). Maybe upwards of $60B. So they threaten to damage our economy in the short term. But the whole thing would destabilize the Salman regime. Which is fragile for a lot of reasons. Drop this bill. It would be better not to hasten Saudi Arabia's transformation into Syria.

So the Administration sends a message with the backing of Congressional action and the Saudi's send a message back, suddenly the Administration knows nothing about it and the O is on his way to "talk". Even the French could not write a better farce.

O was mean to a girl in the expensive, private school he attended in balmy Hawaii.

He regrets it and deservedly so. That is not my beef with him.

What else did he do in Middle school and high school? Did he ever get into a fight? He could be mean to a girl, but could he or did he stand up to a high school bully?

My guess is no.

I am not asking or requiring that he got into a fight and won. I am asking if he had the NERVE to stand up. The Marines, Army, Navy and Airforce will provide the muscle, but he has to have the WILL.

We know Putin was a pugilist. He went looking for fights. I don't know 100% if it is true and I do not know why he did it. To hazard a guess I suspect he got mauled and then he got mean. I have seen it work that way with people and dogs. I am not comparing people to dogs except to note that living things generally react that way.

Machiavelli said it was better to be feared than loved.

It is why I say Putin is a great leader compared to Obama.

Obama and thus America is not loved or respected.

If Obama a had not been backed by the Democrat Party and later the U.S. military he would be a bigger joke than he is.

We would be better off if Michelle Obama was president than Obama (not that I would ever vote for her). At least Michelle wears the pants in the Obama household.
