Facebook Responds To Allegations That Its News-feed Is Biased

The Guardian: Facebook trends: Zuckerberg invites top conservatives to talk and denies bias

As Facebook battles a report accusing it of suppressing conservative news, CEO says he plans to ‘invite leading conservatives ... to share their point of view’

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he plans to invite “leading conservatives and people from across the political spectrum” to talk with him about accusations of political bias at the social media company.

Zuckerberg made the announcement Thursday evening in a Facebook post that continued to deny the allegations of bias and the claim that the Facebook trending topics team suppresses conservative news.

WNU Editor: I am sceptical that such a probe will change anything. When Facebook's news-feed first came out I was a user .... but I gave up after a few weeks because the news that was being regurgitated did not reflect what I was interested in or following. As to this investigation and his willingness to talk to "top conservatives" .... Zuckerberg and his company does not strike me as someone who is open or willing to listen to others who oppose his agenda or point of view. And as for talk of an algorithm being used to select trending news .... we now know that this Facebook claim is not true .... Facebook confirms editors, not algorithms control Trending Topics (Wired).

America is politically left of center and moving further left on a daily basis. As such, the editors are going to work to select what people are most interested in. Hence we have a "bias" against conservatives.
