Washington Times: Green Beret blasts Afghanistan command over ‘moral cowardice,’ ‘profound lack of strategy’
A combat-hardened Green Beret has unleashed a barrage of indictments against the command in Afghanistan and policymakers in Washington, saying the 14-year-old war effort suffers from a “profound lack of strategy” and that special operations overseers show “moral cowardice.”
“The enemy operates with impunity throughout the country due to our relentless commitment to avoid principled strategy and decision-making processes,” the Special Forces soldier says in a sworn statement he headed, “Profound Lack of Strategy.”
He bemoans the fact that the current battle plan calls for most American troops to stay in forward operating bases as fledgling Afghan troops fight the Taliban alone. It is not working, he said.

WNU Editor: This soldier fears the war is being lost .... and what aggravates him is that he feels that his superiors and the policy makers in Washington do not care if that becomes the case.

Sounds like a bunch of goofballs
Dear Green Beret, you are not in a war, you are in a business.
"Dear Green Beret, you are not in a war, you are in a business."
YC, the more thing change, the more they remain the same.
"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."

RRH,
It used to be a business,......
Now it's just money laundering.
Taxpayer's money is sent to places like Afghanistan, where after taking a small cut, contracts are written to the MIC Corporations for arms, services and construction, which are "washed" through offshore Corporations and Accounts, and transferred to the 1%,
And the arms, services and construction never happens.
The claims made by critics of American foreign policy whether they are distinguished retired generals like Mr. Butler of long, long ago or modern pundits generally seem to accepted at face value without the kind of scrutiny that would generally be expected in a scientific endeavor or a court of law.
Each claim of wrong doing should be investigated and if warranted the optimal course of action would be a UN tribunal of some sort to decide on the merits of the claims and if warranted reparations should follow taking into account America and the environment it operates in have changed significantly over the many decades since
Some of the alleged infractions took place.
At present I see several problems with such an approach. 1.) An unbiased analysis could reveal America is owed reparations in some instances. At present, there would be no way for us to collect and it would not go over well when anti-Americanism needs to be whipped up. 2.) With the current level of anti-Americanism that currently permeates various international bodies and the news media fair trials are going to be problematic at best. Mechanisms need to be in place to ensure that America and to an extent other so-called "westsrn countries" receive fair trials. (While this is a problem for "western countries" it is especially acute for America.) 3.)At present, there would be little to no cost for someone to file a frivolous claim against America. As such, the courts could be spending undue time on frivolous claims while legitimate claims are not allocated the proper resources. If a claim is found to be frivolous, tbere should be monetary or other appropriate costs imposed on the nation or party who brings such claims coupled with an ability to actually collect.
Until these issues can be properly addressed, moving forward here is going to problematic at best. Hopefully this can happen soon.
