Hillary Clinton Tells The Press To Be Tougher On Donald Trump

Weekly Standard: Hillary Calls on Press to Toughen Up on Trump

"I think reporters now have a chance to ask some tougher questions," said Clinton. "It's not enough to call in and give somebody a platform. It's now the time to make the tough decisions, and you got to the ask him, okay, so what exactly would you replace X, Y, and Z with? If you're going to be against trade agreements how is that going to work?"

Clinton later added, "So let's get to the specifics. ... Being a loose cannon doesn't in any way protect him, I hope, from being asked the hard questions that he should have been asked during the whole primary process."

WNU Editor: Traditionally (IMHO) the press has always been harder on Republican candidates than on Democrat ones. But in this election cycle I am not sure. Donald Trump has proven himself to be a very adept person at using the media .... and when someone from the media went after him, they were  usually barbecued. Donald Trump has also proven to be a boom for their business .... if given the choice I am sure that most reporters would rather cover a Donald Trump who revels in their attention rather than a Hillary Clinton who has not given a press conference in months ... only select interviews with reporters selected and screened.

It's not just the fact that Trump is a more sensational, rating-generating figure. When he's asked for interviews, he says yes far more often than his opponents do. Some other candidates in this election have even excused themselves in the middle of interviews when they were being asked tough questions, including Sanders.

It'd be kind of hard to be "tougher" on Mr. Trump. They've put him through the ringer already more than any other candidate in history with the possible exception of George W. Bush.
