Threat Matrix: Iranian Qods Force leader reportedly in Fallujah
Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps-Qods Force – the external operations wing of the Revolutionary Guards – has been spotted near the Iraqi city of Fallujah.
As the military operation to dislodge the Islamic State from one of its last remaining strongholds in Anbar province continues, the in-demand Soleimani is reportedly helping direct operations for the plethora of Iranian-backed militias taking part in the fighting.

WNU Editor: His presence validates the importance of this battle to both Iraq and Iran. As for the U.S. presence .... No U.S. combat advisers for Fallujah invasion (Military Times).

And there is Hadi al-Amiri at Soleimani's right hand side.
I agree James. It is very rare to see them together like this.
I forgot to mention it looks like al Muhandis is there too. A lot of big boys, puts Sadr's Green Zone party in an interesting light.
If Raqqah is put under serious pressure and Fallujah retaken I can see ISIS falling this year.
Have no ideal what the YPG offensive near Raqqah is like.
I expect Fallujah to fall. Question is will it fall in weeks 1 month or 2 months.
If Raqqah is under serious threat and Fallujah falls what will Erdogan do?
According to Threat Matrix the people who were there are .... Qassem Soleimani (sitting on the left) seen with Hadi al Amiri, Akram al Kaabi, and Abu Mahdi al Muhandis coordinating actions in Fallujah. They are Iran's important military leaders, and all of them in the same room near a war-zone is very rare. It's like the US Joint Chiefs showing up in a room near the front .... it just does not happen.
The topic was Soleiman, so I expected to find James.
Aizino ... it took 6 months to retake Ramadi .... and it was defended by about 300 ISIS fighters. The city also got destroyed. Falujah is smaller, but there are more ISIS fighters there. This fight is going to last just as long, and I predict that Fallujah will also be destroyed.
You have me pegged Aizino. Soleimani is not only the main man for Iran's Syrio-Iraqi strategy, but he also gives one a glimpse into the workings of Iran's ruling circles and factional rivalries.
WNU: I know that personal cameras and access to the web is ubiquitous these days, but I would think so would these guys. To let this picture in it's context be published is surprising. It's as though they are no longer worried about keeping up a pretense in Iraq.
Who is worried about Obama except maybe would paramours of Sasha and Malia? He did say he might drone them.
I must say that Obama's rapprochement (WNU do not worry. I had look up rapprochement and almost confused it with reproachment & I am a native speaker. Such is the French heritage of the English language. :/) with Vietnam is good. I do not like their communist party nor their human rights record, but real politik is more important.
