VICE News: Hamas and Israel Trade Blows in Gaza During Worst Week of Violence Since 2014
For much of the last week, Israel and the militant Palestinian group Hamas have been trading blows: Israeli warplanes and tanks have been firing into the densely populated Gaza strip, while Palestinian fighters lob mortars at Israeli troops — it's the sharpest uptick in hostilities since Israel's 2014 invasion of Gaza.
The escalation of violence comes as Israeli soldiers crossed into Gaza on Wednesday as part of an operation the army says will root out and destroy underground tunnels that lead into Israel.
The frontier between Israel and Gaza has been mostly quite for sometime and its unclear why Israel chose to move into Gaza this past week. But Israeli officials have hinted that the recent capture of Hamas member Mahmoud Atouna may have provided new intelligence the militant group's underground network.

Wasnt that long ago that the merkava tanks were destroyed and israel was fought to a standstill.
Hezboallah, South Lebanon,
Not Hamas in Gaza.
The IDF made a limited incursion into Gaza, with the "idea" of clearing the border zone of Hamas, and supressing the rocket teams. They were withdrawn when it became clear that they could not achieve either objective.
Despite being heavily outnumbered and "out gunned", Hamas Martyr Brigaides kept attacking in ambushes IDF ground forces, who had no intel on the depth and defences of Hamas groups,
And Hamas Rocket Forces kept firing their shit powered rockets into Israel.
Change the rules of engagement and Hamas won't last long. While Hamas has a large network of supporters in the media, all world governments, numerous NGOs, and vast sources of unconditional funding that Israel cannot match.
Once Israel finally takes the gloves off instead of cowering to world opinion, Hamas's days will be numbered. In this case, the huge media support they have may not be helpful as it allows them and their supporters to blythly believe false narratives about Hamas successes and capabilities.
We will see if Israel is serious about it this time. I certainly hope so.
Hamas and Hezbollah are VERY tough. Defeating them will take a long time and will require enormous resource commitments.

The media narrative on this is that they are "the people." If so, tgen for Israel to survive either "the people" need to be defeated in the same manner WWII enemies were defeated or a more realistic might be to make things pyric enough for the enemy that they will call off the attack in the first place.
Even if Israel gives up more land, this would not seem to mean an easy solution woukd be in sight. At this time, the Palestinians, would simply use this as a springboard to launch more attacks against Israel. As for equal rights, Palestinians view themselves as a superior form of life over Jews who are demonized incessantly. As such, it seems unlikely at this time that they are going to be prepared to treat Jews as equals.
Creating a Palestinian state by carving lavnd out of Israel has been the top foreign policy goal of at least the last two presidential administrations. It's failed largely because all the concessions are expected to come from the Israeli side.
What would be needed would be either to cut off all aid to the Palestinians or at least make the aid highly conditiinal much like that which Israel receives. This would place the parties on more equal footing making it more lijely the Arabs would negotiate in good faith.
The deal maker has stated a dedire to get this done. Furthermore according to some he has stated he wants to be "neutral" on this conflict. If America is neutral, this would mean less meddling in Israeli affairs. America has acted sometimes to try and restrain Israel. Without America acting to restrain Israel we would be more lijely to get a negotiated settlement that the paries can live with less bloodshed.
The difference between the Peoples,
Is that all Israel has to do non-militairially to achive peace, is to either give up Palistinian land, or give Palistinians equal rights in a combined One State.
All Palistinians have to do to achieve peace, is to cease to exist as a people and vacate the Middle East.
Historically, Settler Cultures have a time frame of only three generations to go from invaders, to a "normal" local state with trade and open relations with their neighbors. Any longer than that and the Settler Nation remains an "Invader" forever.
In it's 6th Generation, Israel remains an enemy Invader state, still expanding into Palistinian lands, reliant on trade with the EU and the US, and utterly dependent on massive subsidies.
As the essay I linked to above, points out, the only options remaining for Israel, are the genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palistinians, ore the One State solution.
