Israel Wants A Killer Robot Army

Defense News: Introducing: Israeli 12-Kilo Killer Robot

Maneuvering System Packs Remotely Triggered Glock Pistol

BEIT NEHEMIA, Israel — Imagine an intuitively trained special missions operative endowed with 360-degree vision who works alone or in packs to breach high-risk safe houses and bunkers, ready to shoot to kill within a second of an officer’s command.

Great for a demo but will be easily countered and outsmarted by all but the most incompetant enemy.

fazman,
You're right. But perhaps the Israeli's are going for establishing that aura of uncertainty among their opponents while trying to stay one step ahead in the initiative.

Perhaps the robots will not be so easy to defeat. I suppose the only way to "know" is to actually test them in combat. If the best of the human and the best of computers can be combined, this may prove to be a very lethal weapon. It seems unlikely anyone would waste time and energy on something that would be easily defeated.

Another possibility is the Israelis may be wanting to show the Arabs an inferior version of this. Get them overconfident and then lure them into a trap of their own making. In other words, it may be premature to blithely dismiss the effectiveness or potential effectiveness of this weapon system.
