Sputnik: Taliban Military Operations Unaffected by Leadership Change

Taliban military operations will not be notably impacted by the group's recent change in leadership given its command structure will remain intact, former US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) official Seth Jones told Sputnik.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – On Wednesday, the Taliban confirmed it had appointed Haibatullah Akhundzada as its new leader to replace Mullah Akhtar Mansour, who was killed in a US drone strike in Pakistan over the weekend.
