Putin And The Door Handle

Reuters: Faulty door handle sabotages Putin's inspection of military equipment

An effort to show off the superiority of Russian military equipment backfired on Thursday when the door handle of a jeep fell off just as President Vladimir Putin was inspecting the vehicle.

The Kremlin leader was being shown an array of military vehicles parked outside his residence in the southern resort of Sochi, including a Russian-made UAZ Patriot pick-up truck equipped with heavy machine guns.

I agree entirely that the Russian Federation will survive. This sort of thing can happen at anytime to anyone. The same applies to the tank lockkng up.

This should hardly be seen as indicitive of anything. Unfortunately it does mesh into the tendency of American officials and media pundits to overestimate American capabilities while underestimating those of adversaries and potential adversaries.

If I'm aware of the tendency, the Russians definitely are. Could this have been staged? Probably not, however, healthy skepticism seems to be missing.

WNU,
Love the Oscar Sierra look on the guy's (Gerasimov?) face, rear left of Putin. Yes, the Federation will survive, but somewhere in Russia some guy's career won't.
