The U.S. Cost To Wage War Against The Islamic State Is Now Costing $11.7 MIllion Per Day
The Hill: ISIS war costing $11.7M per day
The total U.S. cost of the war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria is $7.2 billion as of April 15, according to a new Pentagon estimate.
That amount accounts for 617 days of military operations since the U.S. began its air campaign in Iraq on Aug. 8, 2014.
The average daily cost is $11.7 million — up from $9.1 million about a year ago.
The Pentagon has posted the ISIS cost updates on its website.
On Wednesday, the House passed an amendment to a defense bill that would require the Defense secretary to post the cost of operations in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria to each U.S. taxpayer.
