Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu Resigns As Turkish President Erdogan Tightens Grip

Washington Post: Turkey’s prime minister resigns amid high-level rifts and deepening crises

ISTANBUL — Turkey’s prime minister stepped down Thursday, possibly paving the way for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to consolidate power amid complaints from opponents over his increasingly hard-line policies.

The decision by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to bow out of upcoming elections marks another potential step by Erdogan to move Turkey toward a presidential system and reduce the powers of parliament — further cementing the president’s authority and probably stirring more outrage from rights groups and other critics.

Erdogan has taken an increasingly hard line against perceived opponents, including prosecuting journalists and others for “insulting” him.

Davutoglu is said to have been less enthusiastic about the push toward a stronger executive, putting him more at odds with Erdogan.

That's our NATO ally.

Maybe we should have him over for supper the next time the Ukrop Nazis stop by? Nothing like a do for honoured guests with such high democrafreedom credentials. Perhaps we could have the Mounties or Toronto Police beat up some protestors and drag them off to detention kennels to entertain our guests?

No?

Not grandiose enough?

How about a re-enactment of the fall of Sirte complete with a bombing run on said protestors? We could drop a bunch of viagra on 'em before the bombs to enhance the (second) telling of the story of Qadaffi's horny hoard repulsed. I'm sure the Sultan would get a kick out of that. If we could get enough dark people out on the street, the Ukrops would eat it up too-- especially if they could say a couple words of Russian just before the airstrikes commenced.

After that, a tour of the MONUMENT TO THE VICTIMS OF COMMUNISM guided by the world renowned master of dipperlomacy and humoungous rights, Rona Stephen Ambrose Harper "Who is that guy again...?" the Sultan will ask, to blank stares (like the kind they display when asked any question starting with "An independent Canadian Foreign Policy...") from the Canadian dipperlomatic corps present.. Most certainly a good time will be had by all at the MONUMENT.

But nothing will compare to the Tour de Force, with Little Trudeaumania and his Jerry Curl jus' right -- but waving left-- presiding over supper at The Chateau Laurier, better known as La Maision du Boeuf Merde; with Sofie fashionably late from (another) photoshoot for Chatelaine, but no less resplendent in her Courier du Bois gown complete with sterling silver SS ear rings and swastika pendant--a gift from the Ukrop delegation. The Sultan's gift burkha, a little too tight in the hips, at the shop in Moannnn-re-al to be let out.

"Bon Appetit!!" cries Petit Trudeau

"Dig in!!" bellows Ambrose Harper.

"Lend us twenty till the end of the quarter!! Glory to the Heroes!!" howl the Ukrops.

"Cheap oil!! Pass the chops!!" declares the Sultan.

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, Tabarnac esti' Sieg Heil, Alahu ackbar. The majesty of it all. If permitted in the room, the honoured lowly prole could do little but tremble and hope to be asked to pass the Grey Poupon.

Sighhhhhhh....

Oh our democratic, forward thinking, freedom loving governing elite and allies

They're so democratic, forward thinking and freedom loving.
