Poll: Massive Swing In Britain To Leave The EU

The Independent: EU Referendum: Massive swing to Brexit – with just 12 days to go

Exclusive: polling carried out for ‘The Independent’ shows that 55 per cent of UK voters intend to vote for Britain to leave the EU in the 23 June referendum

The campaign to take Britain out of the EU has opened up a remarkable 10-point lead over the Remain camp, according to an exclusive poll for The Independent.

The survey of 2,000 people by ORB found that 55 per cent believe the UK should leave the EU (up four points since our last poll in April), while 45 per cent want it to remain (down four points). These figures are weighted to take account of people’s likelihood to vote. It is by far the biggest lead the Leave camp has enjoyed since ORB began polling the EU issue for The Independent a year ago, when it was Remain who enjoyed a 10-point lead. Now the tables have turned.

Even when the findings are not weighted for turnout, Leave is on 53 per cent (up three points since April) and Remain on 47 per cent (down three). The online poll, taken on Wednesday and Thursday, suggests the Out camp has achieved momentum at the critical time ahead of the 23 June referendum.

WNU Editor: From my vantage point in Canada, the impression that I am receiving is that the passion is clearly on the side for those who want to leave the EU. Will this passion be there when Britain goes to vote in 12 days .... if recent polls are any indication .... the answer is yes.

I have been predicting here and elsewhere that Britain will vote to leave the EU. Even if the voters somehow vote to stay in the EU, the forces of BREXIT have to much power and will simply override the voters and Britain leaves the EU. As such, Britain leaves the EU even in the unlikely event the voters vote to remain.

Everyone with an interest in this should assume BREXIT is reality. It cannot be prevented and people should prepare accordingly.

Will this lead to others withdrawing from this ridiculous union? I certainly hope so!!

Will this be any better for America? I don't know the answer to that one, however, the EU is bad for America. As such, it is probably best to go with the unknown than the known bad. This is especially so when America's ability to actually influence this is miniscule at best.

Will the Britons forgive America for our POTUS stupidly going to Britain and shilling for the EU? I certainly hope so!!

I know, as an American, I don't like it when foreigners lecture us about our policies. I'm pretty sure the British do not either. Not only this but POTUS risked alienating the British to push for a policy that is contrary to American interests!!
