Sputnik: Russian Top Secret Hypersonic Glider Can Penetrate Any Missile Defense

Russia's new Yu-74 ultra-maneuverable hypersonic glide vehicles may become yet another response to the deployment of NATO's missile installations in Eastern Europe, according to military analysts.

Going head to head with the United States and China, Russia has been developing its own hypersonic weapons during the past few years.

A hypersonic weapon usually has a speed between 3,840 miles per hour (Mach 5) and 7,680 miles per hour (Mach 10). Cruise missiles flying nap of the earth have always been able to get through defenses. Russia has plenty of those

This Russian missile is not a threat. If nothing else MAD will still work against the Russians.

The missile defense is to work against nuclear blackmail by Iran. Iran will eventually get the same tech as Russia, but in the meantime it will provide decades worth of security.

To say that Iranian blackmail or madness is not a concern is to be dishonest.

"Yu-74 ultra-maneuverable hypersonic glide vehicles". Interesting... but what they call "ultra-maneuverable"? At hyper-sonic speed maneuverability is strongly different than at subsonic speed: that's just physic. I am a little bit septic.
